Hondata gasket dyno result

Just got back from the dyno to see what to expect from the Hondata gasket and TB bypass mod.

This is the last dyno results with K&N CAI and DC header

This is the current results with K&N CAI, DC header plus Hondata gasket and TB bypass mod

Not bad at all for a solid 3HP gain!

This is what I observed before and during the dyno run.

1. The car was put on the dyno almost immediately when I got to the shop. The under hood temp was very hot.
2. Outside temp was 70 degrees F. The temp inside the shop was 75 degrees.
2. Coolant temp was 192 degrees.
3. Air temp during idle was 122 degrees and slowly climbing.
4. When the dyno run started, pedal to the metal, the air temp started to fall to 80 degrees around 5500 rpm. When the rpm reached 6000 rpm and vtec kicked in, the temp fell to amazingly 75 degrees!
5. All the gains are after vtec. No gain from low to mid range.

That's it, no more dyno runs for me until Hondata and turbo are available.

Hondata Thread

No drawbacks other than it takes a couple of hours to install. For $60, it is a nice modification for some additional HP as proven by Jtso.

Jtso, nice dyno. Sorry I couldn't go with you today.

NICE!!! that's some good numbers for a $60 mod.. however, i heard that after a while *dunno for how long*, the gasket will somehow melts [and some of the residue was found in the intake manifold] when you remove it. they figured that it was because of the material... i was about to buy+install *at a shop* , but they didn't recommend it to me coz it happened to one of their customers [not a tsx though] ... dunno if it's true or not, but it did discourage me to get the gasket ... what you guys think?

Nice werk Jtso!

Solid gain of 3hp for 60$ is a good bang for the buck, right up there with the air filter.

I haven't heard of any problems using the Hondata gasket. I have one on my other car for 5 yrs and it's still on the car without any problems. It has been reused many times during the course of modding and maintenance, even with a SC. It didn't leak boost or coolant. However, I did hear some copies of the Hondata gasket that didn't fit right.

There have been copies and there have been counterfeits of the Hondata gasket. We have a counterfeit that melted like wax when the radiator water ran low. Hondata gaskets have been run on circuit race cars, turbo and supercharged cars. Hondata gaskets are all packaged in shrinkwrap and recently have been stamped with our logo on the material itself.

We even lost all the coolant on our own race car during a race and it was completely useable after. The engine block and head were badly warped though. So the message here is that if a Hondata gaskets melts on your engine, then your engine is probably toast.

Thousands have been sold and fitted to Hondas over the past 4 years. If there were problems we would know about it.
