high flow cat options?

is there a cheap option in the high flow cat department?
something thatīs similar in flow capacity as the random tech?

I know the random tech is a great piece and direct fit, but I donīt mind having my ebay ss header cut up again and adding in somesort of a high flow cat?

Mangaflow High-Flow Cat.
It's a 300 cell vs. Random Tech 200cell, but it's still better than stock 04-05 stock 800cell.

Wait, you have a 06 Accord-S, maybe you should check b4 the change, cause the 06-07 TSX has upgraded their CAT to 400 cell in OEM spec.

I am 99.99% certain that we did not get any of the upgrades the 06-07tsx got, our accord is still like the older models 03-05. I will probably end up buying the random tech.

I counted....

I counted 1/4 of my stock 05 OEM Cat, but got too tired so I just approximately guess the #, it's also close to what people posted on the forum.

The 06-07 TSX OEM Cat's # is from online source, probably forum, tov or Hondata.

You do know the cell measurement is based on cells per square inch, right?

The 04/05 CAT is actually 900 Cell.
From this link:
http://hondanews.com/categories/742/releases/2836
"Cell density of front catalyzer reduced from 900 to 400 cells"

I know that's what it reads, but is that actual fact? Does anyone have a picture of the 06/07 cat core for comparision?

Btw, just right below the cat info, they also said this...

"By eliminating the direct throttle cable connection to the engine, the ratio between pedal movement and throttle butterfly movement can be continuously optimized. This adjustable "gain" between throttle and engine is a significant step forward in drivability."

I've decided to verify the actual cell numbers on the 04 cat by placing an one inch piece of paper over the cells. It is exactly 30 across. Therefore, 30x30 = 900 per square inch. I was incorrect about the 04 stock cat cell numbers. I'm now interested to see a 06/07 cat core for comparison.

Hey, look what I've got lying around...

Same trick (top edge was measured exactly):

Results: 20 across. 20x20 = 400 cell.
Never would have thought to check. Thanks JTso.

So if someone has an 06/07, and it is now 400 cell, is the consensus that it is still worth it to buy the RT CAT, which is 200 cell?

I can for sure see why 04/05's swithing from a 900 to 200 would make a big difference, but is the performance increase from the 06/07 cat's to the RT Cat to small to justify the price?

Anyone know for sure that the newer cats can go on the 04tsx without any issues?

i would rather not be questioned about an aftermarket high flow cat at the inspection station!

So....what kind of power do I get from swapping to the RT cat? I got both the RT Cat and Greddy Evo exhaust. I know I can feel a little more torque...is that it? Does a lower cell CAT give you more torque??

Oh...and how many CEL or cells are in a testpipe?? HAHAHA...1 cel?
