hid headlight question

i want to upgrade my oem hid bulbs to "philips 6000K ultinon", so i guess the product i should be looking for will be "PHILIPS 6000K Ultinon D2S bulbs"?

there is only one kind of bulb under this name right? (i mean...there's no H1, H2...etc, as long as it says "D2S", then it's good?)

the reason i'm asking this is because i found a set of this on ebay selling for $200 here, on the website it says the bulb type is T-9 which I've never heard of it, so i am kinda worried there are different types of bulbs all under the same name "philips 6000K ultinon".

also, does anyone know where i can get this in good price? is 200 a pretty good deal?

yes D2S is your your HID headlight, H series would refer to your high beam and fogs.

i want to change oem hid bulbs too, so any D2S bulb will work for TSX? so basically D2S hid bulb works for all the cars out there? (seems each individual brand only makes one kind of D2S bulbs for direct replacement for the oem hid bulbs)...is that right?

thanks

D2S and D2R are reference to HID bulbs, your high beams ARE NOT HID. So the ONLY HID bulb you have is the low beams which is D2S. Your fogs and high beams are halogens and I believe the fogs are H11 and the high beams I'm not sure....

All years of the TSX came with HID on the low-beams.

^ That is GREAT info! So many questions get asked about "what kind of bulb goes where" in our cars now that light changing seems to be all the rage.

We really should have this info in the FAQ somewhere!

It should also be noted that a 168 bulb is identical to a 194 bulb (which is the more common nomenclature, at least for aftermarket parts), and the festoon bulbs in the TSX (map lights, rear dome light, etc) are 10x30mm.

And Reach, as an extension to this, can you see as well with whatever bulbs you're rocking as with the OEMs? Thanks.

Guys, I'm using the stock D2S bulbs. The bluish glow in my housings is from bright white LEDs going through the jdm sidemarkers. Search for the 2006 jdm lights to see big pics of them and you'll get an idea.

Reach has the 2006 JDM headlights; to my knowledge, he didn't clear them himself.

You can order JDM headlights from a number of places including our board vendors (Mr. Heeltoe?) although I think they're kind of hard to find/back-ordered.

Correct. JDM lights come with blueish sidemarker inserts instead of amber ones.

Nokya H9 yellow bulbs. You would have to modify them like I did to work with the stock housings. I posted how to do that in a pic thread in the Photo gallery forum, search for my name.
