HID DS2 Xenon - Which Brand to Buy?

Has anyone purchased any aftermarket HID's for your TSX? I've been looking around and the prices vary so greatly it appears there are some bad versions out there. So far the best seems to be Philips, but abit pricey ~ $200.00. I found a pair of Promax for only $130.00.

Also, I plan to go with the 6000K but the 8000K color temp is tempting....

Anyone have any suggestions or bought any HIDs?

Thanks!
ChimChim

KAIXEN HID's. Great product and a good price. I sell them locally and online and have had nothing but great experiences.

i know that the 6000k is whiter than the stock 4300k...just wondering...is there a significant difference between the 6000k and 6500k that you sell? i read & saw your comparison in the groupbuy thread...it stated that the 6500k were purple...i thought it's purple once you go to 8000k and higher..

Your Kaixen 6500K - are they whitish/blusish lending heavy to the white? Or are they more blue?

Also, how much for 2 bulbs - D2S?

Thanks,

The OEM bulbs are usually 4300k. The 6000K is extreme white with a hint of blue. The 6500K is extreme white with a violet tint. The 8500K is extreme or deep blue.

To chimchim, the prices are in that link. $150 shipped to continental US for a pair of bulbs. I have 6000K or 8500K in stock. I would have to special order the 6500K bulbs.

i got the the 8000k. they are good. nice color to match color of my car(abp). They say you lose light the higher k you go. However from my point of view you do lose a little light, but since our projectors have a wide beam, and good forground lighting you are good!!!!!!! And the road in front of me lights up blue. so it has a cool effect!!!

You say you got the 8000K bulbs - are those street legal....do you think I would get pulled over?

Also, found sellers on Ebay - 8000K or 6000K (pair) for only $85.00 shipped - Both sellers have excellent feedback. Its a gamble but thats cheap!!

Changing the color of the headlight bulbs is not illegal.

Remember on the ebay products, you get what you pay for.

Aftermarket HID bulbs has better color than OEM. Our stock is 4300K, white and bright. Where aftermarket has 6000K, 8000K or even higher with a nice bluish/purplish color. Personal preference.

can you really see a difference between the stock 4300k vs. the 6000k?

Yes. Our stock will only looks bluish when it's first turn-on the HID system, then it will keep in the white color steady until you shut it down. For the 6000K bulb, white is still the main color, however when it's in far you will see a hint of blue, might thought it's a blue HID bulb. But once it gets close, you can see it's white still. I'm planning to change my stock bulb, and i would skip the 6000series and go to 8000K or 8500K if there's any.

The Philips Ultinon's are 6000K, but theyre probably the most pricey.

Id consider swapping only if one of my stock ones blew out.

I think 8000k is too crazy. I seen on riced out civics and tegra and it doesnt look good at all. Its almost like blue or purple.. I guess 6000k isnt so bad after all because I do like the style of audi's and bmw's HID.

higher the temperature level (K) you'll have trouble seeing the road when they are wet. oregon has 4~5 month of rain and i know how well those blue lights are absorbed by the wet road. sometimes its dangerous if you don't have amber/yellow fogs.

Talking

Ok....after mulling it over for a few days...I think I am going to go for the 6000K. I really like the 8000K but the it does seem to be a bit drastic. Actually, the 6000K does appear to be blue from farther distances so I think you get the best of both worlds by selecting the 6000K HIDs.

As far as buying, I plan to get them from ebay for less than $85.00/pair. Yes, I am taking a chance but the sellers have 100% or near 100% feedback...what can one really lose.... Besides I never pay for retail....

Also, I am still awaiting the xenonmatch fogs light bulbs from Hoen-USA. I ordered them on Monday and I cannot wait!! Has anyone ordered these - they look really nice....

6000 is the way to go i think, 8500 would be cool looks wise but just doesn't seem like it would be as functional
