Here I go again... Hondata gasket ordered!

Hondata actually released the heatshield gasket last month but didn't update their web page until I email them today.

The price is $60 plus shipping. The gasket should come in handy to cool the intake temp for the upcoming summer weather.

I'm curious as to what the installation cost will be though. Please keep us updated, especially if you get a price for the installation cost. Would be much appreciated.

So this gasket is a one time try, correct? Thought I read that if you dick it up, you can't use it? . This gasket goes where exactly?
It's hot as a bastard around here so anything that will lower temps is a bonus to buy!

Matt at Hondata said the gasket goes between the injector base and the cylinder head. Item #8 in the picture below.

The gasket is reusable and doesn't require any sealant for installation. I've used one on my Civic and have reused it many times during the process of various modifications.

I'm not sure about installation cost because I'll be installing it myself.

The removal/installation of the intake manifold looks very easy from the Helm's manual.

My roommate put a Hondata Gasket on his Prelude 2 weeks ago, but it took him more than 3hrs because the H22 is mounted opposite of ours w/ the intake manifold on the rear of the engine.

I think the Hondata gasket can be put on our K24 in an 1-1.5hrs. I'm looking at the RSX installs, but they have to drain their radiator fluid and move stuff. Our manifold just comes off after removing the intake and some wires.

xizor, Keep in mind this is not an intake manifold gasket. It's a heatshield gasket which requires draining the coolant first. It will be a little labor intensive.

It would be way easy if it replaces the intake manifold gasket, but the benefit won't be as good.

Item #2 is the intake gasket.

ah got it, still not terrible because there's a lot of room to maneuver up there. looks like some more bolts and a ton of hoses to remove.

is it necessary to replace the intake manifold gasket when doing the install. I'm assuming the manifold needs to be removed from the injector base.

Yes, you need to remove the intake manifold to get to the bolts for the injector base. However, I think you can reuse the intake gasket during reinstallation.

Yeah, you just need to drain enough below the cylinder head so no coolant comes out when you remove the injector base.

You can learn more about it here

One reviewer experienced 5 whp increased, which is not bad at all for $60.

Another source experienced approx. 7 whp increased from a TSX.

that is very impressive for 60 bucks, will this do any damage or strain on the engine?

What do you mean reuse it? I thought we were replacing it with the heatshield gasket? I'm new to all this stuff, but the gains sound nice and I would love to order it and get it done. Thanks

You can reuse the Hondata gasket if you need to take things apart without having to buy a new gasket. Whereas the stock gasket is not reusable.

Stoke, don't bother calling Doug because they don't sell direct. Just call one of the Hondata dealers listed on their site and ask for the TSX gasket.

Only if Stokeless is going to the dyno at the same time. I want to see if he can maintain his highest HP title. Btw, if anything, it will only be an after dyno because I already have the before result from the DC header.

apparently people dont hv that much exp with Hondata Gasket for Acura TSX (since they just came out), i called up a local Hondata dealer today and they said it might take 2~3 hours (that's longer than i expected), cant be sure til he see the kit

the funny thing is, i called 2 diff dealers, and non of them know that Hondata released heatshield gasket for TSX, guess it's too new huh!

owell, let's wait for those 2 crazy modders (Stoke and JTso) and i am sure they will let us know

lets see how the group buy will be.. and for the install.. thas a lot of money for a part that costs only 60 bucks.. i still dont understand how a gasket can give about 5-7 whp... somethin jus doesnt seem right... but if yall get this part, and feel.. or see (dyno) the difference then im in for sure.... I might still get the part since its only 60 bucks haha.. but gunna wait for the big ballers (stoke and jtso) to do it first, i hate being a "test dummie", especially when i dont really kno much about engines.. im still in the learning process...

The gasket give you more power by reducing the heat transfer from the cylinder head to the intake manifold, therefore, reduce the intake temperature. I have one on a B18C, and I can actually put my hand on the intake manifold after some hard driving, so the gasket really work.

One thing is that it may not worth to pay for the install if you are just doing the gasket along. But if you can DIY, then it is well worth it.
