GREDDY EVO2 Owners! Advice Please!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys
I recently bought the GREDDY EVO2 from wholehyper and its gonna be shipped out to sydney Australia.
Just a few questions I have.

1) i want to install the exhaust myself. what tools will i need?
2) is it hard to install urself?
3) wat time frame am i looking at?
4) any other bits i need ? e.g bolts or nuts etc?
5) anything else i need to know before undertaking DIY surgery?

any help would be appreciated guys!

You are gonna need several things to do this. You best friend will be a break bar to remove the bolts from the exhaust as they are really torqued on. You may also need some stiripped bolt remover sockets.

Here is a link to pictures I took after I was done installing my exhaust of how it looks from underneath. this is how I go my car off the ground and i still didnt have enough room under the car really.

Do yourself a favor. 3-4 days before you're ready to do the work, start spraying the bolts down with some WD 40 or something. Once a day for 3-4 days prior to the work should be fine. Some good tools will help. A compressor and pnumatic (SP?) tools would really help.
I would think no more than an hour to do the work. Especially if you have someone to help you.

As an FYI, getting to the top bolt on the cat-exhaust joint is best reached by lowering the entire exhaust using a jack (I had the entire car jacked up). There is an area towards the rear of the OEM exhaust, just forward of the split, that can be used. By lowering the exhaust, it makes the space between the heat sheild and the top bolt become larger. Be careful as this process also makes the flex piple on the header flex and you just don't want to put any excessive movements on that flex pipe suddenly.

haha... I was under the car looking around saying, "how the f*)& am I supposed to get to that bolt?" Then I remember as a part delivery guy watching a Midas shop mechanic having the exhaust hanging... looked and saw that part on the OEM exhaust. It occurred to me I should lower the exhaust and I barely had enough room to get the impact up there, but it worked.

$40!?!?

Was your car already lowered? Just wondering because I'm about to buy an exhaust and I need to either get it installed or install it myself. For $40 I'd save myself the trouble but my car is slammed so I wonder if they could get it up.

Only reason I went to Meineke was coulrd not reach the bolts that connect the exhaust to the cat so I went to them and just paid the mechanic cash (under the table you could say) only took them like 20 min or so, you should have bo problem if you had someone helping you out.

I don't think he did yet... I was supposed to and then I was going to let him know where I put it but I was away last weekend so I couldn't do it. I'm going to give it a shot this weekend, I'll let you know where I put it.

Am I going to run into the same problem doing my RT Cat install?
Sounds like that bolt that connects the cat to the OEM exhuast is a b*tch to get off.

Is it possible to get it off without lowering the OEM exhuast?
I have the DC Header, and don't want to put any extra strain on the flex pipe.

It might be possible with a universal joint adapter.

hey guys thanks for ur replies
TSX.Fury and Lito, nah not yet guys. prob gonna do that xmas holidays. cuz i aint goin anywhere and hopefully i'll have the cusco lower arm + catch can + greddy exhaust installed durin that time period

how many bolts are there thats attaching the exhaust flanges? and how many bolts all together that i need to remvoe on the OEM exhaust?

also, i read that i need a few more bolts and nuts or something as GREDDY doesnt give them to u? i can get it from my hardware store? wat is it again? i forgot.

and also, i again read somewhere that i make sure that greddy puts in some part with the exhaust as they sometimes leave it out when they are packing the exhaust to ship? wats that part? anyone know?

is it just a matter of raising the car, gettin under, removin bolts and installing new exhaust? cuz the reviews ive read so far on this forum and tsxclub.com is that most pple with aftermarket exhaust installed it as if it was nothing? or is there a lot more work involved?

Since your in Sydney, you won't have to worry terribly about rust... which is the main issue on this installation. Can't help you with the bits and pieces you need make sure are there with the Greddy as I have the Comptech.

You can also get to the top nut by using a long socket extension which allows the ratchet to clear the pipe down stream where the bend is. The ratchet or breaker bar can rest on the pipe for leverage.

Very true. A universal joint would be put to good use too. That tool warehouse link has a nice impact set for this.

I got the bolt off without lowering the exhaust, but it took me about 10 minutes and a few cuss words, I am not sure if I would want to lower the ehaust as that is putting alot of load on the Header.
