Got my 5AT Hondata reflashed!

Hey everyone, I just got my 5AT TSX reflashed. I got it done by Kevin at Epic Motoring in Torrance, very nice people, they even squeezed their schedule to make room for my reflash at the last minute!! I highly suggest getting your car reflashed at Epic Motoring because they are VERY CLOSE to Hondata which is where everyone sends your ECU to get reflashed. They can also do next day shipping if you ship your ECU to them. They reflashed my car in less than 2 hours, and plus they gave me free Hondata decals.

All I have to say about the Hondata reflash is that it makes the car into a different monster... It pulls so much harder now!! Its a complete different car, I'm loving it... Right now I only have the Injen CAI but I plan to install Comptech Headers and Exhaust soon... My goal is to have the fastest 5AT on here . But yeah Hondata should be the first mod for your TSX! It totally changes the attitude and performance of the car. My car is so much more responsive now, THANKS HONDATA!

You can contact Epic Motorsports at 1-310-787-1562, ask for Kevin.
If you're in So. Cal, Epic Motorsports located is at:
20926 Normandie Ave.
Torrance, CA 90502
tell them Curtis sent you!

Same here, just a little worried about possible warranty issues.

Yes, but you can utilize the power more efficiently in SS though, you can take it all the way to 7600 in SS. But in normal driving the power and throttle response difference is there, whether if in D or SS. I shall get a dyno done in the future at Church's Automotive Testing.

Don't worry about it.

I still can't decide if I really need it As slow as the car is, its still fast enough for what I need if that makes sense.

Believe me... its worth it! I am very satisfied with the performance of the TSX now. Hondata has been the best bang for buck mod I have ever experienced.

Shut up !!

So where do you feel most of the power gain? at 6K like dyno's suggest? How different is the car at 6K?

It starts to surge around 3000rpm.... then it flys after 5000 all the way up to redline (7600). The vtec crossover isn't as linear as stock, its more aggresive with Hondata, you can feel it kick in at 5000 rpm.

Do you see ANY downside at all to this mod for the 5AT other than the $600 and being out of service for a few days?

Dyno form church here: http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...&postcount=148

this is a very green auto. More power would be expected with more than 200 miles on the odo.

This simply is the best mod for the TSX.

I have a friend who works over @ BMW and he was extremely impressed by the dyno chart after Hondata.

I'm considering it, but there are a bunch of other "toys" i am thinking of spending money on. I have too many hobbies right now

I may wait until next summer when my bumper-to-bumper warranty is up.

And ya, by downside I mean mpg and engine problems. They didnt magically create this power so there has to be a trade off. Maybe the engine runs leaner and hotter . And I think we have already confirmed that mpg will suffer. Personally, the mpg doesnt concern me at all, but just making a point

Of course the mpg will go down and I doubt the engine will run leaner, if anything it will run rich, but then again i'm not a engine guy, where's JTSO when you need him

i found VWONG's post with his stock air/fuel ratio graph for the most part it looks like we don't have to worry about running lean, cept for the 4K drop. I'm sure Hondata took all this into consideration...

Actually we added fuel at the top end to cater for people who will install a header. With a header it will run the same air fuel ratios as stock. Without, a little richer - but only above 5500 rpm.

The only reason fuel economy suffers is due to the driver. We did not modify part throttle fueling.

It's interesting that you felt the vtec crossover is less linear with the Hondata. Because according to the other people and various dynos results, you can barely feel the vtec crossover after the reflash. I'm kind of curious to see you dyno result...

Johnny, I heard that the 5AT people have been able to feel the Vtec crossover, while it has not been as noticeable to the 6MTers. I will let you know if I can feel it.

There is a small dip at VTEC for engines with stock headers and intake. This dip disappears when you ad these items.
