DIY: Mugen Short Shifter
I have a simple write-up on the Mugen Short Shifter install:

A little review:
I LOVE this mod. It's definitely not as short as some of my buddies' Integras and Civics but it is awesome. The knob sits about 1" lower than stock, which takes pressure off your elbow while shifting and distributes it over your forearm. It could be because the factory one hasn't been lubed since manufactured but the Mugen shifter is way smoother and more precise (also due to the solid mounts). The throw has been shortened by ~10-12mm, which isn't much but coupled with the precision, smoothness, and lowered knob height, this is a winner. The return spring is also a little beefier so it finds neutral faster. This kinda sucks when shifting 5-6 at first because it wants to go 5-4 unless you apply a little side pressure. You will get used to it and never think about it again. Some people complain that they needed a heavier knob after installing their SS adapter from Neuspeed or Skunk etc. Definitely not so with the Mugen full assembly. There is no noticeable increase in force required to shift gears, in fact it is so smooth it feels almost easier. It's a pricey (non-essential) upgrade but it makes the TSX that much more fun to drive.
I ordered from King Motorsports (only certified Mugen distributor in the US) and it was in my hands 3 days later.

IMO, this is worth the money. Being a very particular person, something about clamping an adapter onto the stock shifter just didn't sit well. Plus, the adapters don't reduce the shaft length, and you still have to replace the mechanism bushings with solid ones. Also, the adapters increase the shifting effort so many people drop more money on a heavier shift knob.
If you have the extra coin, I'd recommend it but if you have only $300 to spend on a mod this year, I'd wait to get this one. Of course, this is one of the mods that you get to feel every time you're stuck in traffic or running to the grocery store.
