DIY ....Counter sunk/ counter weight shift knobs
This would be a good DIY for someone who has access to a metal lathe. Just practice and patience is required. Skill could be usefull for better results
So I started off with a stock of steel...
Started machining it down to size, I didnt take any measurements at all, just went with what would feel comfortable in my hand.
once I got the thickness I wanted, I drilled the hole that I will counter sink and then thread it with 8x1.25 mm tap. I counter sunk the knob to make it sit as low as possible.
Now I tapered the bottom end of the knob
after doing some finishing runs to get a nice finish I cut off the knob from the steel stock.
I put duct tape on the finished side and put it back on the machine so I could finish the top of the knob.
here it is fresh off the machine, weighs over 400 grams.
After a few coats of clear coat , here is how it looks in the car. I know having a counter weight shift knob on an A/T is useless but its nice and solid. i love how it sits so low.

Someone stole "My Garage"
Nice! Back in the early 90's I used to love going to woodshop class to use the lathe. So many options and so much originality can be made in minutes.
Looks good although maybe a slightly more gradual taper to the bottom would make it look a bit less block-y...? Either way I think it looks great man, nice work!!
