Debadging Questions...

I just got my TSX last week, and i want to take the "acura" and the "tsx" badges off while leaving the A on. Are there holes behind these badges? Is fishing line the best way to remove these? what kind of solvent should i use to get the rest of the goopy crap off? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

There's no holes and yes you can use fishing line or dental floss. Taking it off on a hot day after your car's been sitting in the sun for awhile makes it a bit easier. Otherwise you can use a hair dryer and heat up the adhesive. As for the leftovers, I just polished it away with zymol.

A lot of people on this forum has done this modification, do a search or PM those that have done it.

As far as I remember, there were no holes that were drilled, just residues from the adhesives.

I used dental floss no heat and a product call un-do adhesive remover.. comes with a little plastic scrapper.. but you can use 3M adhesive remover found in the auto paint section of the parts store. Then buff out any swirls with a good wax.

I'ts going to sound wierd but I swear it works. I did it when I took the dealer stickers off my parents van. When you have nothing but the glue left to remove grab some packing tape or duct tape and use that to pull the glue off. It'll take a few pulls but it works.

I'll save final judgement until I see pics, but IMO that just sounds weird, I can't visualize it.

the badge is much smaller than you would think. it will look really clean without the other badges, while adding a small little accent that is not in your face.

Just to add to the debadging methods, I just debadged mine with a soft plastic scrapper, a hair dryer and a cotton towel. No need to buy any solvents as the hair dryer turns the sticky stuff to mush after a while, then just wipe away with the towel. Rub it down with your favorite wax to get the small bits, wipe off, and your done.

Why Debadge if your just going to add more??? especially when your car isnt an A spec. Thats like putting a Type R sticker on a ford focus. It just isnt it so why fake it?

If it wasnt bought an ASPEC it will never be an aspec. No matter how you do a conversion. A GSR with an ITR engine will never be an ITR just because it wasnt when you bought it. Id rock it with all the Aspec suspension if thats what you want but i would leave the emblem off. And why buy aspec you can get better for the same amount of money????

i wouldn't be quite that harsh. i'd draw the line saying its not a-spec unless you have the whole package. A-SPEC doesn't come from the factory anyways.

A-SPEC is a bunch of bolt ons for the TSX anyways, no? I think only the TL adds hp with the A-SPEC setup.

i don't think the tl has hp upgrades with the aspec pakage too.

they basically get what we get

lower (barely) suspension
18 wheels
oem lip kit (which looks great on a tl too)
choice of lip spoiler or wing

and of course, the infamous a spec badging.

no bolt on upgrade for more hp in any aspec car.

If I debadge my TSX then later decide I want them back on, what do I do?
Do I use the same badges and but new adhesive on or do I have to buy a new badge package?
If not to debadge, I was also thinking of getting my badges a gunmetal color, does the TSX offer that color choice?

Thanks

Or lots of extension cords if you don't have a garage.. I just saw my neighbor who connected 3-4 extension cords to vacuum his car.. That saved him what, 2 quarters?

Ha, plus all the time it takes to drive there, etc, etc. Usually takes me 6 quarters.

none specifically for the TSX, search for "black chrome" and you'll find some informative threads.

its not really that complicated you just need to do a good job cutting out the adhesive tape with scissors so it fits in the letters.
