Comptech Supercharger coming out first week of may?

I hope this wasn't posted before, but I emailed an Acura dealership and they said that they will have 4 SC's in the first week of may!

Which Acura dealer did you call? Noticing that you're in Midwest just got me interested.

Ooh...I wonder if the supercharger will be available for the automatics initially?

Comptech did explicitly state that they would offer two versions.

Right, but sometimes they wait a few months between releases and usually the MT version comes first. I'm just wondering if the release will be simultaneous.

What would the reflash matter if there isn't one set-up for the S/C anyways? Maybe I am missing something here.

Maybe they're intending to build upon the work done by Hondata? Isn't ECU mapping a huge process? If so then maybe Comptech would either outsource it to Hondata or at least surf the wave of their initial NA reflash.

I think you have to send your ECu into comptech? Isn't that what the RSX users have to do if they don't have the reflash or kpro?

Why? So they could make a post saying, "hey check out my product" but not answer any questions? Kinda like Hondata.

hopefully their idleness means they're working hard on a k-pro. i think hondata did a good job of answering a lot of the big questions, we asked them a million and at least got a good number.

4 grand is a lot of money. I've got it, but the question is, do I want to spend that much to get a supercharged TSX. I think I'd end up wanting so many other upgrades to go with it, 4k could easily turn into 6 or 7.

who has 4 grand to dump to the supercharger, raise their hand.

i bet barely anyone will raise their hand.

my hand is down.

i've got my eyes set on a house

i had to get hondata of course, for 600, its an offer too good to be true.

That's what I thought too. Actually, at the JGTC last December, Comptech had a booth at the vendors' area. They displayed the SC'd TSX. I asked them about the ECU, and the guy at the booth said that you'll have to send the ECU to them for a reflash. I don't know if they're developing their own reflash to work with the SC or if they subcontracted it out to Hondata.

Regardless of whether not he answered every single question, I still think it's very nice to have someone from Hondata posting here. Even if it is occasionally, it's definitely better than nothing. We don't want to discourage Hondata from coming here.

And spending that much on power/speed performance upgrades, doesn't it start to become "maybe I should have bought a different car"?

True. All you would do is buy a more expensive car and spend even more money modding it to make it faster. It's the fun of finding parts and getting it all together that does it for me.

How many of you would pay the extra $4000 at the time you bought your car if it was available directly from Acura like how TRD superchargers are sold?

I'm pretty sure I would.

alright, dumb question...if you supercharge do you get rid of intake? cause the way my friend explained it to me was that it took your exhaust and fed it back to the intake at a cooler temp and higher pressure

Wow your friend must have been :blaze:

A supercharger draws air from the same place the stock intake is and compresses it which forces more air into the engine. Durring the compression stage the air becomes hotter not colder. That's why some kits offer an aftercooler to cool the air down before it enters the engine.
Superchargers a belt to drive the compressor, turbos use exhaust pressure.

I probably wouldn't have bought the TSX then. For the 4K at the dealership with the TL sitting right next to it, I would have probably opted for the TL, or another car in general.
I don't mind dropping the 4K now (even though a SC is not in my near future), but it wasn't what I was looking for the day I purchased my car. Sounds crazy, but that's my explanation

Exactly the same for me. Modding is a disease, and it's chronic. When I got the car I was thinking, CAI and maybe some new tires on the OEM wheels. Thing is, the more modding I do the more I want to do.

I'm the same way with computers and my gun collection.

Hey, money exists to be spent though, right?

Since this is a comptech supercharger, is it possible that it could be fully endorsed by Acura dealers? In addition, does this add-on quickly diminish the life of the engine? How long can a car last with a supercharger?

To my knowledge if you get it install at a Acura dealership at $80/hr labor it will be under warranty and will not affect the current warranty on your TSX. I doubt it'll do much harm to your engine since Acura will endorse it. I'm sure the boost isn't high enough to damage any stock internals. It's a honda engine, built to last.
