COMPTECH REPLICA INTAKE under $75 bucks

ok so i wanted to get rid of that useless restrictive resonator that our cars had and i wanted a design just like the comptech airbox but since my car is a lease i really didnt want to spend as much money as possible but i wanted the same results as the comptech. also i wanted to make the car unmodified as possible.

first thing i went to my local pep boys store i found a $10 45 degree 3 in elbow and a$20 3 in velocity stack just as the comptech airbox. i bought a k&n filter $45

i removed the bumper and resonator and i will let the pictures keep talking:

as far as performance goes, it feels much better than before nothing crazy though but makes the car more responsive specially on the low rpms. the sound is very nice though not loud at all just perfect.
i bought the pieces chrome because they didnt had black but hey it will be covered by the bumper so u cant see it anyways.

comptech uses a larger volume lid as well, consider crafting one on your own?

DUDE, that is pretty close to exactly what i am using on the bottom of my icebox. I bought the icebox for my 04 but left the down pipe in when i traded for the newer 06 so i only had the icebox lid. I have the same bottom half, plus a few little extras waiting to go in. Right now its just a cut piece from the resonator. Good work though! I'll post some pictures when i finish mine up too!

I've seen a few people do that with the velocity stack right behind the bumper, with holes in the plastic piece, as a kind of ram-air setup
Kudos for being crafty like that

Don't forget to mod your stock airbox as well (removing the ribs that cause disturbance in air flow)

Hey wrussi I did the same mod as you today, with the same exact parts. I'm happy with this mod, but man I had a hard time taking out that last screw that is tucked away. I didn't want to remove the bumper, and it doesn't help that I have big hands. Anyway, yes my car does respond better and yes I'm seeing already how my car is not consuming gas as it was with the resonator on.

Wrussi, you said your's is a lease. Does doing this affect our warranties? Any specific tools you use to take the bumper off?

the only way to tell i have that done is to actually take the bumper off and take a look. from the engine bay not even in full days sunlight you cant really see it. so i doubt honda will give me hell for it. and if they do i still have the stock resonator.

taking out the bumper is pretty easy but tedious. you have to take about 20 clips around it. 2 screws on the side, unplug the foglights and then put some towels on the floor and push it out. its nice if you have someone helping you but i do it myself alone.

Make sure if you take the bumper off, you remember where all the bolts and clips went. I got all the clips in right, but was left with a couple bolts that I didn't know where they went

good job, thats pretty much the same as mine.

Would grinding the inside of the box even help? The only thing that would matter, airflow wise, is the air that enters the MAS. The way the box is shaped in the inside is superfluous. By the way these two cents icons look like brown nipples. hehe
