Bumper help

Hey guys. I just took my car to a tuner shop to get the comptech intake installed. They removed a whole bunch of bolts under the car to remove the bumper. When they took the bumper off, this heavy metal peice on the bottom of the car fell off.
Anyway, they had no idea what it was and how to put it back so they left it off.
What the heck is that piece and do I need to have them put it back on?

If it is something that I need to put back on, can anyone tell me where I can get instructions that shows them how to put it back on? thanks.

It slides under the front of the bumper and a few of the bolts that they had to remove to take your bumper off bolt to it. I had a hell of a time putting it back on when mine came off during the install of my skirt kit because I of course didn't pay attention to which way it came off. I believe it's there to weigh down the bottom of the bumper, but it probably has a more significant purpose that's beyond me.

Unfortunately I can't help you much more than that. I forget which way it goes in, and I just checked the PDF of the front lip installation instructions and it makes no mention of the piece. If I find more info, I'll post it here.

It looks like the metal plate is in the bumper for those two 10mm bolts to bite into..........

Hmm..interesting.

I have a different front license plate holder then yours l7h8626. Mine is actually a huge chunk of plastic.

I wonder if that plate is used to support my syle of front license plate holder?

the one u are talking about is the factory one, i removed it and custom made one myself, because the factory one rubs the bumper and scratch the paint...
i just simply use 2 long bolts and spacers and tighten them on a custom lower mesh grill...

here was the post of the license plate holder i made.
hope it give u any idea of what i mean...

correcto!
but i dont really know what does that piece of metal's function there...
maybe its just helping where the place of the bumper and the under panel connected better of firmer, when going in higher speed, and the air pushes the under panel.

Talking

Hey guys.. i'm kind of proud of myself.. I tackled the front bumper myself. Thanks to the pics and instructions I got from everyone here.

Not only did i have to put the bumper weight back on, but i also had to fix the lower air horn of the comptech icebox. For some reason, it came loose. i guess the guys who installed it last time didn't do it right. In hindsight, i wish i would have installed the icebox myself.

Anyway, i removed the front bumper alone.... It wasn't too hard at all.. I put the bumper weight back on and I reattached the airhorn. All is well now. Thanks guys.

I didn't see that weight plate when I removed the bumper. What build date is your car?
