Brakes

My brakes are starting to squeek on a regular basis. The car is about at 15000 miles so imagine i need some new pads and whatnot.

What is a good pad to upgrade to over stock? Something like the EBC Greenstuff?

And how easy is it to intall or how much is it to have someone else install?

THanks

I doubt you have worn out your brakes in just 15k miles. Unless you autocross. Anyway your brakes have probably glazed over, meaning both your rotor and pads are ultra smooth to the point that they squel. Try going to an empty parking lot and brake test your car from about 30mph to zero. Try this several times. Also, try going in reverse and apply your brakes hard as well. These action will try to remove the glazing effect but it's not always successful.

If you do want to upgrade to EBC greenstuff, it's a fairly easy process. Be aware that with a more agressive pad you will hear a harsher sound when braking. It's more a rasping sound that you will not find on a OEM brake which is designed to be quiet (unless glazed over but that's true of any pad).

Look at CompTech web site for all kinds of TSX brake upgrades or TireRack. I read somewhere that the TSX pads where a ceramic compound; I never see much brake dust which is why they went that direction. Is therean Acura technician out there who can confirm or deny?

Take it to the dealership.

They should be covered in the warranty.

i have to clean my chrome rims weekly because of the brake dust. i'm using dealership pads as well.

not sure why you wouldn't see much brake dust on yours.

i'm sure robert has the same amount of brake dust on his wheels as you do on yours, but yours are "chrome" and it will show more on those rims than the standard rims. IMO.
