All day project: INJEN CAI + review
Yeah, I know -- you might be asking, it took ALL day? Yep, it sure did. Keep in mind that this is someone who almost never gets his hands dirty and doesn't even do his own oil change. After reading the instructions on this site, I took it as a personal challenge and put aside my whole Sunday.
INSTALL
After basically declaring the Injen installation instructions useless, I had my laptop handy with AZ threads showing some step-by-step instructions. It took 1/2 hour removing all the tubes and stock air filter box, 1-1/2 hours removing the stock resonator and tubing (a real pain in the a**), and 1 hour installing the new intake.
After thinking I was done, I drove around and was initially disappointed with what felt like a huge power loss in low RPM. A went for 3 runs of WOT and finally discovering VTEC. I pulled up to my driveway and popped my hood with the engine running. Something didn't sound right -- there was a hissing sound coming from around the CAI pipe. After discovering and fixing a breather tube leak, I decided to go out for another test drive. This time, the low RPM loss was not felt. Actually it felt more responsive as I took her to WOT a few more times, barely tapping redline. A few times, I forgot to turn off the godforsaken VSA which didn't let me really turn her loose.
After allowing the ECU to 'learn' the new intake, I only had two words while going on another run:
GOOD
LORD.
I never felt an intake make such a difference. I'll be adding more details and hopefully pics within the next few days.

Congrats Black_6spd!
Deciding to do the mod yourself was a great thing to do, even if it took you longer than expected. Modding is pretty affordable when you can take labor out of the equation.

Congrats on your first DIY mod I have my Injen ordered and hopefully it will be here today The only other mods I've done is the TB bypass and blue interior lighting. I tell you what, it sure gives you a great feeling doing the mods yourself! Great satisfaction Can't wait to install my CAI and

Thanks for your replies. My back hurts from hunching over the engine so long!
Injen really needs a better instruction manual. For those who didn't buy the Injen CAI yet, you should expect some low quality B/W pictures showing some install steps. Do it good or don't do it at all!
Question for those with CAI's on their previous cars: Does the CAI on a TSX seem alot louder? It sure does to me! I had an AEM CAI on my 96 Integra and it was probaly half the decibel level as the Injen CAI.

Congrats man, I gotta come over and see/hear it in action. Its LOUDER than your Integra AEM CAI? Jesus....how is it at cruise and under 3000? Any drone? Makes me want to hear that thing at ludacris speed.
So the butt-dyno says its got a more tangible gain than the old integra's CAI?

I'd double check all your connections because I could not hear any difference between stock at cruise and I'm in SRI mode. Yes it's a lot louder than stock at WOT but it sounds great IMO.

How loud is the sound at normal driving, like 3-4k rpm? I really like the deep sound, but I don't want it to be too loud while I'm just regular driving. Thinkinga bout the comptech icebox but really love that DEEP sound!
