Aftermarket side molding-anyone bought this?

Has anyone seen or bought this style side molding yet?

http://www.sportwing.com/catalog/displaycat.pcgi#

I saw the thread on the Honda Accord molding and thought this would be easier. It comes pre-painted. Any comments on how it looks? Likes or dislikes. I am just trying to keep my CG Navi TSX doors ding free!

Link does not work correctly. Look under painted moldings-custom

I would pass on those. I prefer not to add anything to "try" to prevent door dings. They make the car look like shit and usually don't help.

I use the parksmart clear magnetic door guards whenever I can't find a "safe" spot. They go off and on very easily and stow away in the trunk when not in use. Advantages are that they don't change the look of the vehicle and they can be adjusted higher, lower, forward or back depending on the anticipated ding point. EX: higher when parked next to an SUV.

I add a 4ply locking car cover if the car is left someplace overnight or when it is parked at work during my 12 hour shifts.

So far, no dings, scratches or scuffs.

Thanks for the replys guys. I think I am just gonna wait on the molding for now. I thought the molding actually added to the styling of my buddies TL but I dont think thats the case with my CG TSX(with Navi).

TSX has the vigorous bodyline on the upper of the door. That runs parallel with the window frame and slightly climbs up. IMHO, please be careful to put on the aftermarket molding. I just saw a very bad DIY example yesterday.

Sorry for the quality of pics. I shot them by T610.

Are those mouldings crooked or is it just the crappy camera phone pics?

I had no idea that even existed. But can't someone just steal them off the car?

So should the mouldings run parralel to the rising line of the windows? That would look just as bad.

IMO just say no to these mouldings. It looks real bad from what I have seen.

That looks so horrible.

I'd rather have door dings. Did you check to see if he had plastic covers on his seats?

It's actually worse than the pic's shown. I just cannot believe what I see there.

Crooked and curved....

NOT my camera or shooting angles

Right, if he likes to make it lower to match the base of the car, this molding is prolly useless.

Don't do it.

Ok, this one looks nicer since it follows the rising line, especially if comparing with the one I saw yesterday. (Pics above)

OMG what in the heck were they thinking when they did that! (above phone pics) Man, I would have never even started this thread if I saw a TSX with molding like that!

They could steal them but they're inexpensive. I feel I could lose a number of them before it amounted to the price of taking out one serious dent. ...Also, if the car is parked overnight, they're hidden under the car cover.
The only other downside is that they're short and don't offer 100% coverage along the side. Of course, there is NO invention that is completely jackass proof.
