Hi all....seriously considering 2006 reflash, it has been around awhile, I am curious as if anybody has had check engine lights or any problems with the their reflashed vehicle...thanx in advance...

 

^ i've never heard of any problems what-so-ever with the 2004-2006 reflash on our tsx

 

well... 04-05, i've never heard of any problem.

for the 06's.. which i DO have the reflash, no problem at all as well.!!

0 problems, its fantastic and should be on the to-do list of everyone who owns an eligible car.

I have been considering the Hondata reflash along with intake (K&N) and header (DC sports probably) although it seems folks really like the reflash with stock intake and manifold.

Lead feet is a disease that comes with having a reflash. I'm not sure if theirs a cure for it. Thank god, I have a 05 AT. (DAMN YOU HONDATA, DAMN YOU HONDA!)

 

I have an issue with the 2006 reflash... it's not the same for 2007 models!

 

Word. I have money set aside for this so I can buy it the day it's released. I'm getting so antsy I'm considering buying an '06 ECU.

 

i think that will depend on the person tho.

and that's about the combination i have right now.. injen + DC + hondata...

has anyone actually tried swapping an 06 ecu into an 07?

i'd definately be interested to know if it's even possible, what would be lost (TPMS), etc...

i'm also waiting for the 07. i'm so buying it if it ever becomes available. the sad thing is, i was actually looking at an 06 when i was buying my TSX, but opted for the 07. if i only knew what i know now

 

the only problem i think hondata will give you is speeding tickets and and crazy rush for vtec

 

I've been re-flashed for a year now...no problems (knock on wood). I also have IHE Fuel Mileage is holding up. I've been averaging an honest 27-28 mpg...not based on the MID. Hope that helps.

 

What kind of driving do you do in order to achieve that?!?! I am lucky to get 21 mpg. I mean, i have a 3 mile commute to the train station with like 5 lights but still, i would think i should do better. I drive spirited at night but i'm too tired in the morning to drive fast unless i'm late which only happens once a week.

I think in the spring when i decide to keep my TSX for sure, i will be purchasing this as well. Good to not see any bad reviews

 

ive been thinking of doing the reflash for my 06 tsx as well, and i was just wondering where i can get this done. do i have to send the ecu out? and is there anything else?

 

Hondata definitely worth every penny

considering how much some other BOLT-ONs can cost you, I think hondata is even UNDERPRICED

it's pretty much the TYPE-S version of the TSX that Honda never released, but Hondata managed to squeeze out a lot more ponies from something that was already there...

I have to admit I've gotten used to the response and the early vtec...
but then a few months back I drove a friend's 05 6mt bone stock...
the first thing I noticed is how LONG the travel of the shifting was, since I had the comptech short shifter, it's crazy how you just get used to something and won't appreciate it until u see the old

power wise...I wasn't really thinking about the differences between our cars...I just felt something is missing...the torque is just not there...and I was surprised to not hear the vtec switch over at 5k, and then I realized...oh ya...this is his car

no problems since day one, but...like others said...Vtec is closer, so I tend to hit it more often

Speaking to a Honda super-builder, he mentioned that Honda went to a different computer manufacturer for the 07's.....this could be the issue for the reflash of 2007?

Anybody shed light on this?

If true, 2006 probably gonna be best of the best till Turbo comes out....

 

With only a 3 mile commute, your engine never really warms up and therefore is running very rich...hence your poor fuel economy. Very short commutes are very bad for cars because the engine never heats up to proper operating temp and evaporates all the condensation which has built up in the oil and gas. You should follow the extreme duty service intervals for your TSX.

 

Who told you this, exactly? If this is correct, it is definitely the problem on getting something out and would probably require a lot more R&D if they changed the architecture of the ECU.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, though, for a manufacturer (Honda) to switch ECU manufacturers well over halfway through a model's lifespan.

 

Came out in conversation with a speed shop I am dealing with on some work...name not important, I do not personally vouch for the info...but....could explain the slow non- development of the 2007 reflash....

 

is there any other possible reason the 2006 and 2007 would NOT have the same ECU? If it was the same engine, specs, electronics, emisssions, ETC?

 

the ecu's for the 06s vs. 07s+ have different part numbers. and jtso has confirmed that the 07/08s share the same ecu.

aside from the TPMS, no one has ever really identified what else has changed between the two.

 

I could deal with both of those, it's putting my ECU in the mail that I have a hard time convincing myself to do.

 

Hmm. Anyone in the Bay Area with an '06 want to pull their ECU? Let's meet up and take them apart (I've an '07) and find out what their differences are.

 

Is there any decrease to the MPG once the reflash is done? I'd like to have more power, but since I do a lot of driving, it's not worth a significcant hit at the gas pump.

 

if you search the older hondata-related threads, there aren't really any complaints of lower mpg after getting the reflash. and if there are, it's b/c everyone's foot is too heavy from enjoying the lower vtec point and increase in hp/torque.

 

ok, so i had gone to honda-tech and asked a particular vendor dealing with hondata and ecu management if they've heard anything about hondata working on the 07+ TSX.

this one fellow that does tuning for hondas and deals with hondata apps provided was helpful enough to email me this response:

'There is a cloud of mystery around the 2007 Honda's and if Hondata will be releasing anything for them. I have heard many different opionins on what is going to happen. Although I know there are some major issues to be addressed with those things, including the location of the computers and the DBW set ups.'

does this mean the TSX the only problematic ECU? because the following honda/acura vehicles that have reflashes available for 07 models include the civic Si, RDX, s2000.

may not mean much, but it's kind of discouraging to hear if there are issues.

 

I've had it for over 1 1/2 years and no problems at all. Fuel mileage has gotten better but I'm not sure if that is due to the engine being broken in or the reflash. I would highly recommend it...great bang for the buck.

 

I was going to say, find a Hondata dealer near you and they'll have it done in 30 mins, but you're in CT ... sorry ...

 

the hondata dealer i talk to down here in Mississippi said that i had to send mine off. didnt know they could do it in house
