101,000 KM's and still on original brakes!

I've had my TSX for about 3-1/2 years now and I've never touched the brakes. I check the pads and the condition of the rotors twice a year when I switch between summer and winter tires, and every time I've looked, there has been plenty of pad life left.
Now I'm up to 101,000 KM's so I decided it's probably time to replace the pads and to do a brake fluid flush at the same time. So I picked up the parts a couple weeks ago and finally got around to the job last weekend. I got the car up on stands and took all the wheels off to have a good look at all corners. I couldn't believe what I saw! The front pads still have 50% life and the rears still have 30-40% left!![what](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/what.gif)
The rotors are still in great shape with 28mm thickness (26mm is the minimum).
I decided to just do the brake fluid flush and left the original pads on. At this rate, I probably won't have to do the rears until the fall at the earliest and I've still got at least a year or two to go on the fronts.
Engine braking for the win!

I really haven't been driving any differently than I did in my Golf, but in that car I had to do a brake job every 60,000-80,000 km's, which I thought is pretty typical for most cars.![Dunno](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
Maybe I checked off the secret carbon-ceramic composite brake option when I ordered my TSX....

Nice. I'm surprised your rear pads lasted that long as we've had a few reports of shorter rear pad vs front pad life. My rear pads were gone at 38K on my AT. As for the fronts, no surprise. I was on originals at 83K with my AT when I got rid of it.
Hopefully the engine can handle all that engine braking.

one thing that i think is acting up again though is my rear camber kit. had to already replace it once because it was making clunking sounds and it seems to be doing it again.

I have past 40,000 miles (roughly 64,000 km) with the original pads and rotors and yesterday at the dealership doing oil change, service guy told me that front and rear pads estimately have about 50% life left. Well, I drove mostly suburban road mixed with city road. I don't use SS to engine brake, just let the AT do the job.

Just passed 80K miles yesterday and I have replaced all four pads (70K) and had all the rotors resurfaced twice (25K and 50K). I imagine the rotors will need replaced very soon.

engine braking if done properly puts little to no strain on your engine. i made a thead a while ago about engine braking and everyone seemed so against it..
