Zenon color difference

Jusy had my entire headlight assembly replaced due to internal moisture buildup and subsequent short. New bulb is not the same color- it has a slightly lower color temmperature. Orig bulb is the usual zenon blue while the new buld is more yellow in color and to me very noticeabe. Anyone have a similar experience? Dealer will probably think I'm nuts. Thoughts?

"Thoughts?"
Dude, that would tick me off soo much. Hope they change it for you.

Are there noticable part number differences?

Most likely a lower K rating hence a more yellow colour.

Definitely get on 'em to replace it.

After a while the colors will match up. The longer you use your HID's the color temperature will change slightly. So after the new bulb burns for a while the color should come close to matching up again.

i would have the dealer change the bulb in pairs. That's usually the way bulbs are supposed to be replaced.
But... the colors will never match up becuase both bulbs start out bluish and as it ages it will turn whiter and whiter. So... it will be a lOOONG time before the 2 match.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't know that xenons change color temp as they age. Could the dealer have used a non Honda bulb? He told me it was difficult to get a replacement headlight assembly. (maybe due to the condensation issue?) Does anyone know if there is a Hona part number on the bulb?

They`re Phillips D2S bulbs. Same as most OEMs on japanese cars

Also, remember that one manufacturer's 6000K is different from another manufacturer's!

I have the same problem with my replacement bulb. The dealer said that the bulbs are the same part so there is nothing they can do about this. He suggested I contact Acura Customer service, which I am going to do. If I don't get matching headlights after spending $225 for an OEM part, I feel I'm getting ripped off. The dealer said they had the same problem with a TL and couldn't resolve the problem. The car looks like SH*T coming at you now. This sucks.

Are you guys certain that the gradual color change is the problem? Maybe the bulbs are slightly different.

This changes my opinion of Acura quality. I didn't pay an Acura price for Lada quality headlights. Makes the new IS250 sound better for my next car.

Remeber the HID on the 99 and 00 TL? The HID used on those TL looks a bit more yellowish than those we have on the TSX. Have they put those bulbs to your TSX instead????

I've noticed on an 06, the hids look bluer and purple in color. Kinda like BMWs and Mercedes. I also thought the TSX was was on the whiter side. Are the 06s hids deeper in color or was it just the angle?

got into accident back in march 06, passenger side headlight needed to be replaced, driver side we untouched. got car fixed, colors didnt' match, took car back 3-4 times to insurance company to have them get it fixed right, body shop told me couldn't match the colors becuz acura doesn't make the lights the same color aka each one is different. then agent at ins company said that he owns acura TL(older model)... wanted to change the headlights to somethign brighter and he had similar problem, went ot dealer and they couldn't match up the new headlights on his car, even though both were new... i was like..wth.. so now i dont' even know now... so messed up... i guess i should contact acura myself anyways to figure it out...

Newer HID blubs will be yellowier ~4300k and as it ages will become whiter ~4600k-ish. Older blubs won't become more yellowish.

My 99TL has much bluer light then my 04TL or 05TSX. You also have to take into account that 3rd gen TL and TSX have projector headlights and at certain angels might look bluer then the 2nd gen TL which is a reflector type.

Its normal to see a color difference if you just replaced one bulb. It might start to match the older bulb but that depends on how much older the old bulb is.

Yea, they still around back in 90's but it suddenly vanished in early 2000's as there is no market for it.... it looks ugly and not reliable..... with the same price of a Lada, ppl would rather to spend the money on a Hyundai or KIA which has a better looking.

the more life a bulb has, it will color shift. so you stock 4300K are probably not 5000K while the new one is still a 4300K. Look on ebay for a single 5000K d2s bulb and replace it.

My family had this car in early 1990s and they still make it in the same style

ahhh, the good old days, when you only needed a good ruler to desing a car!

Last models I remember seeing up here were the Samara (3 door hatchback), and the Niva (SUV-like wagon). Lada claimed a Porsche engine in the Samara... If that were true, something tells me it was designed in 1950!

I remember many years ago when they were "showcasing" a few Ladas in the mall. Looking under the hood, I remember seeing a white substance that very closely resembled Elmer's School Glue... or white caulking.

Late last year (read: a couple weeks ago), I was up in Courtenay and even spotted a dealership that sold Ladas!

Replace HID bulbs myself?

Hey all, I'm a new-ish owner and I was wondering if it's really necessary to have the dealership do a bulb replacement. I'm not super car guy*, but I have always replaced my own headlights. I haven't popped the hood to really stare down the replacement procedure, but it can't be that hard right?

What about the fog lights? Are those pretty easy to replace yourself? Without jacking the car up? I've never owned a car with foglights that aren't integrated into the main lighting cluster.

* by this I mean I've never been into the tuner scene where some of you guys could probably dismantle your car blindfolded :-). Nice.
