1. Llumar
2. dye
3. Shade of tint 50%
4. Shop RM Window Tint in Colorado Springs - very nice job
5. price $280
6. Moleskin no
7. Scratches no
8. Navigation no

AM and metallic tint - no? When I called this shop, they clearly knew about Acuras; they asked if I used the AM radio very much (yes) and they then recommended a non-metallic and indicated metallic causes AM reception problems.

Replace window seals. They also told me right out the gate that they'd have to replace the rubber interior window seals with felt ones to reduce scratching problems; replacing the seals represented about half the cost.

50% tint? I've have darker tint on the other car (35% I think), and don't like it as much; On long drives, it makes it difficult to see the scenery; like wearing sunglasses even when it's not sunny. The 50% tint I got on the TSX is dark enough to give the car a nice look from the outside, but is hardly noticeable from the inside

You might be right. I might have mixed up the number with my other car.

1. Brand and line of tint: Llumar
2. Type of tint: No idea
3. Shade of tint: 15% all around (only illegally too dark in the front sides in FL. My Dad has the same on his car for the last 2 years with no problems. And twice now I've been stopped next to cop cars, and no problems with that either.)
4. Tint shop that did the installation: The Car Stereo Shoppe Inc, Brandon, FL.
5. Cost: $180 for all around plus brow in front
6. Moleskin - no
7. Scratches - no*
8. Navigation - no issues with GPS

*No scratches, but it appears they did a piss poor job of cleaning the window beforehand, as in certain kinds of light it's very streaky (like they let Windex just dry on there). I haven't tried cleaning the tint yet so I can't say for certain that it's under the tint and thus uncleanable, but it doesn't look good. I also found several pieces of tint around in the car afterwards that they 'forgot' to clean up. So yeah... don't go there. Does have lifetime warranty though.

Also does anyone know what happens when you move? While I may only be slightly illegal in Florida, it'd be very illegal in say, New Jersey. Would I have to get it retinted, or just explain when I got it done it was legal where I lived?

You're SOL, unless you still have out-of-state plates.
One you register a car under a certain state, you have to abide by the laws of the state.

From what I see at the LLUMAR website, they do NOT offer any ceramic tint so those who think they have llumar ceramic are mistaken or the website is wrong.

Formula One & Llumar are owned by CP Films (http://www.cpfilms.com/windowfilms.html). Formula One Pinnacle is a 100% non-metallic ceramic tint. I had never seen a ceramic before I got mine, and maybe its just me, but I think the ceramic looks a lot lighter looking out from inside the car (which is good) than the comparable shade of metallic (I got 35%)

Question - When your windows were tinted, on the back window, did they cut-out the tint that goes over the rear brake light or tint over it?

Sometimes they give you the option to make that call.
Keep in mind, it's illegal in certain states (if not all) to tint over the 3rd brake light.

For my car, they cut it out.

They gave me the option, I told them do what ever they felt would look best. They cut out for my 3rd light, I really didn't care either way.

I called the shop which did the tint (I actually purchased the tinting from the dealer and they sub it out). This is a very reputable shop and he assured me it is legal in WA state as the law states the 3rd brake light must be visible fom 500' when lit up, which he said it was and this is how they tint all the cars that have a 3rd brake light in the rear window.

I don't have any new ones, just the one from when I forgot and rolled down the window the day after installation.

If it's ceramic, it's either Huber Optik or F1 Pinnacle, unless another brand has come out with a line of ceramic.

You sure it's ceramic? For $150, that's a steal.

And CJams, no scratches on mine - I have the felt moleskin installed.

I contacted a place in raleigh "Formula One" and this is the email I received. I have no clue what to pick! Llumar platinum or Pinnacle..i'm guessin they are the best??

We have 8 different price points starting with our Llumar films, we offer the Llumar Premium, High Performance and Platinum Plus. In the higher quality FormulaOne brand we offer Classic, Comfort, Premier, Ultimate and the New Ceramic film called Pinnacle. All films carry a lifetime manufactures warranty but the difference is in Color, Heat rejection, UV protection and Glare reduction.

We sell the Moleskin kits for the TSX.

We designed our MoleSkin for this purpose alone. It is not the generic type most tint installers use.

Anyone here from Northern VA and have had problems from the police with 35% tint all around?

Has anyone tried LA tint? If so do you recommend them?

Thanks

Going to get my car tinted tomorrow at LA Tint, can't decide between 50% front 35% back or 35% all around. Has anyone had troubles with police from getting 35% all around? Can someone post a pic of the 50-35? Thanks.

My opinion on 50%... don't even bother tinting if you're doing it for cosmetic purposes.
It's like wanting to drop your ride by using A-Specs.

I have an NBP with 20% front & back and haven't had any problems.... Just make sure to open the sunroof shade to let more light in and/or roll down the front windows if you see a cop. When you get inspected, keep the windows down too....
I had 35% all around on my last car and it wasn't noticeably dark--you can still see straight through--- most cops won't hassle you as long as they can see inside (to determine how many people are in the car).....

LA Tint does good work, but their prices are a rip-off... I went to MD to get tinted and had mine done for $220--- would've been $160 but I wanted the top of the line reflective tint as opposed to the normal dark grey/smoke/charcoal/etc. tint....

1. Brand and line of tint: SunTek Infinity OP
2. Type of tint: All-metallic
3. Shade of tint: 20% (all)
4. Tint shop that did the installation: HP Racing (www.hprcustoms.com)
5. Price paid: $220
6. Moleskin: No
7. Scratches: Yes -- Can only be seen from the inside while using a flashlight to make a shadow effect.... Got a lifetime warranty, so if it gets worse, I'll take it back...
8. Navigation: No-- No interference w/radio or XM
