Your Advice Needed with Insurance

My TSX was stolen about 2 months ago, and they recovered the car with some damages. My car has since been repaired (covered by insurance) and the total cost was about $6500. The problem is that while my car was in the shop i was given a rental car, which State Farm covered. But i was in an accident with the rental car only a couple days before my TSX was finished in the body shop. The accident was my fault. So initially i was going to just pay for the damages out of my own pocket to avoid ANOTHER insurance claim in addition to my TSX repairs. Now the problem is that the damages on my rental car were $2500 and the damages to the car i hit was $3600, which adds up to ANOTHER $6000 total. Thats a little steep to pay out of my pocket. Am i at risk to get dropped from my insurance for having too many claims in such a short time period? Should i just go through my insurance with the rental accident? I dont know what the hell to do. I'm sure my rates will probably go up after all this. Note that the initial claim with my TSX being stolen wasnt considered my fault. But the accident with the rental WAS my fault. Thanks for any advice.

$6,000 is kind of steep to pay out of pocket. Can you check with your insurance agent to run the numbers if you file the rental car accident through your insurance and the possibility of being dropped?

yeah, the best thing to do is just ask your insurance agent and weigh your options based on his response. We could only speculate here on what could happen. By the way, sorry about your car, how did you get your tsx stolen, if you don't mind me asking.

I guess i should at least do that. Cant hurt. I was just waiting until i got the estimate before moving forward with anything. I guess they will really have no choice but to cover me, and if i get dropped or have a rate increase, then its still better than paying 6 Gs out of pocket. this suxors.

did you use a credit card to pay for your car rental? some credit cards provide car rental insurance, i usually use these type of credit cards for rentals and waive all the optional care rental company insurance charges

If the first accident with your TSX wasn't your fault and only the 2nd accident w/ the rental car is your fault, then your record should reflect that you have only 1 at fault accident. I don't think your insurance company would drop you with only 1 at fault accident, unless you also have a bunch of speeding tickets or other accidents.

Well not in so many words. But put it this way, i clipped a parked car on the side of a street. Was kinda a no brainer, since i was the only moving car involved...

May I ask how your TSX was stolen? I was under the impression that such a feat would be fairly difficult...
