Yakima roof rack

I'd like to get a Yakima roof rack for my 08. The Yakima web site does not list the 08 in there list of approved mounts. They have 04 thru 07 listed and all of them use the same identical Q clips. I called Yakima and they said that the reason the 08 was not listed was that they had never personally fitted a 08 and would not list it unless they were 100% sure of the fit. This is a nice conservative approach.

I assume that the same Q clips will also fit my 08 but would like to know for sure. Anyone mount a Yakima roof rack on a 08 TSX? Did you use the 800605 front Q clips and the 800683 rear ones? Thanks.

the 07 and 08 are literally exactly the same... there isn't a single difference between the two. If it fits the 07 it will definitely fit the 08

Another option...

What will be the primary use of the rack? Skis, kayaks, bikes, cargo box?

I ask because I contemplated a roof mount system for my RL to transport bikes and ended up getting a trunk mount. Now, don't roll your eyes at a trunk mount (I used to do the same thing). I got a Saris Bones RS. Super easy to get on and off, does no paint damage (so long that you dust of the surface before you mount it) and is incredible stable. I love the two ratcheting straps...looks incredibly clean. I'll let the pictures stand for themselves. If you have any questions, by all means: ask away.

Spud, do they have one that mounts the bike lower? It looks good, but it's mounted high and would decrease visibility through the rear windshield. Also, it might be more aerodynamic to have the bike not causing drag by behind so high.

Your license plate says WTF. I remember on the news that some states are omitting this letter combination.

Anyways, it should fit your 08. warning though, put some protective tape (like 3m clearbra tape) where the clips and the rubber shoes touch your paint. Otherwise, it will scratch away the paint eventually. I did it on mine, and no paint scratches, and I remove and install it frequently.

That's as low as it gets. However, rear visibility is not too bad. Besides, I like to have a good watch on my bike.

Aerodynamically, you're right; at high speeds the bike creates some drag.

Still love it, however. It's the best option for me.

Most people leave both wheels on and the wheel hubs can obscure the tail lights if you get it too low.

thinking of a roof rack as well. Yakima or Thule. Hopefully it'll fit a stretch beach cruiser and a regular mountain bike or bmx.

Spec the Yakima rack for 04-07, fitment is identical. I have one for my '06.

I agree with Daffunda, get clear tape and put it underneath the install. I did this and have no scratches.
