XM Satellite Radio

Is the XM Satellite Radio worthwhile? What is the monthly subscription rate?

If I had access to it, I'd get it in a heartbeat.

I think the subscription is like 10$ per month.

I don't think it's an option. Or is it?

sauceman - Option for the 04, but it sucks (FM Modulated). Standard on the 05.
emperuman - 1 Yr subscription included for all Acuras (including TSX)

No, only the RL gets a free year subscription.

Everything else gets 3 months free.

(at least for the 05s)

Mine said only 3 as well, I enjoy the XM alot. Its finally something different to listen to, and can narrow to what tune you want to hear. However, Id like to get sirius when howard stern makes the move as well.

Sticker on the car states 3 month. So considering you sign a waiver on anything that is not on the sticker or put in writing, it is 3 months.

BTW.. had car for a few days now.. Not too sure about XM radio yet... Yes its only 10 bucks a month.. But i am not too privy to the lineup. I will give it 3 months to check out, but i am not sure that it is all that. I guess the only useful thing is the fact you can see what your listening to.

Add to it that you'll be able to drive to NY and still be listening to your favorite channel from LA.

Yes, that is also the same website that said that the sunroof was one-touch. Acura likes to recycle information and seems that they often have incorrect info.

I just drove from RI to NJ this week for work and the XM was great. I don't mind the line up at all. If I can't seem to find any musice I just switch to the comedy channel.

Also, the instant traffic and weather stations (for majot cities) was great. i just switched to that channel every 15 min as I was getting closer to NYC and I knew what to expect. IMO, XM is worth it, however, I understand that Sirius has a package $500 for life. That would be great!!

My parents have an 04 Accord EX-L, with XM...they had three free months, but haven't gotten any notice about signing up, nor has the service been cut off. They bought the car last May, so until it shuts off, they will just keep their mouths shut...shhhhhhhh...

Ive had XM for a year and it is awesome. i prob listne to it 85-90% of the time. The only other thing i listen to is cds, i havent listened to a radio station in my car in about a year. No commercials on the music, its worth the 9 dollars a month, without a doubt

There are a couple of XM music stations that I kinda like but much of it is just computer-selected crap. I do like listening to XM Comedy uncensored, and to ESPN Radio for the Dan Patrick Show, and the BBC news. For music, not as much. Cds.

I agree that not all of it is great, but it is nice to set the music on one station for a long drive, and not have to deal with commercials, static, changing stations, finding a new one after a couple hours, etc. Let's face it, most of the time, I am not that picky about my music...and for the times I am, you just helped me add in an iPod too

I thought XM sucked, especially considering it's almost $15/mo. The music channels were very bubble gum. The only thing I really liked was the news channels. Not worth the price tag.

But here's what I'd REALLY like to see:
RDS.

Why don't they put RDS functionality in their radios for crying out loud? The Accord in Europe has it. It's standard equipment on Chevy Cavaliers now. Why oh why Honda/Acura don't you implement RDS in America?

The factory equipped XM radio in the '05 model is pretty easy to get to channel 0, just turn the channel (frequency) dial on the radio down until you hit 0 while listening to XM. You *can't* use the channel +/- button on the steering wheel to get to 0 unless you have set channel 0 as a favorite (preset) at the radio.

I like it, and I will continue to subscribe. No commercials is the big difference for me! I can't even stand the thought of listening to regular radio again (the FM radio stations around here don't offer me much selection in the first place).

Radio Data System

The radio station you are listening to has to have that functionality on their broadcast antennas for you to get anything out of it.

Here in Raleigh, NC only about 2-3 stations support it. Even those don't display song title. They usually say their tagline, FCC info, and other stuff.
