Question XM radio questions in 2006

Is there a way to tell which band and song is playing in the car or does it only show up at the beginning of the song?

Is there a way to tell me when any of my favorite songs/bands are playing on another channel?

Am I missing something? Maybe I need to reread the manual.

I think the Mode (RPT) button cycles thru:

- artist
- sond
- station name
- something else

Don't believe there's any way to have it monitor other channels.

The answer is yes, and it depends on if you have the navi or not.

It is in your manual. A quick check should reveal all the answers. I believe on my navi-equipped 2006 I can change the display settings (for the top display by the clock) by holding down the 'Audio' button while XM is on. I have mine always show the Artist, and it cycles to Track name every time a new song starts, then back to Artist.

Just to restate White's comment and to make sure there's no confusion it does NOT matter if you have Navi or not to view the artist or song title. Just hit the repeat button and it cycles through the options

Diverging a bit, does anyone know how to the the track time to be displayed while playing a CD? The default seems to show disc number and track number with no option for track time. You can see track time while advancing in a track, but that's only while advancing (fast forwarding or rewinding).

I didn't see anything in the manual. I called Acura, they also saw nothing (though I think they just looked at the manual also, was hoping they'd have access to other tech documents).

I don't think I've seen ANY cd player that doesn't allow you to view track time.

Track time is not displayed in the non-navi models.

I don't think so. You need to be tuned to the channel before the song starts to get the full artist and song name. If you switch to it too late and the song has already started, you'll only get the artist. You can toggle it to display the artist or song title or xm channel. This is for non-NAVI. For the NAVI the display by the climate temperature behaves the same way.

And no to your 2nd question too. I wish there was because I have a Skyfi2 and that was 1 feature I really liked about it. And the 30min buffer was nice too so you can rewind and hear the song again.

Lame. They could have (or should have) made the main display show the track number and track time, with perhaps a box or bolding around the 1-6 at the lower part of the display to show which track is currently playing.

Red face

Thanks...you all answered my questions. I was able to figure out how to change the display so it always shows the artist. That's too bad it doesn't tell you whats on the other stations - that rewind feature would be cool too. Oh well. Interesting that there's also not a time view on the CD songs. Weird.

By the way I have a non-navi 06.
