Window Tint Questions

I'm considering getting 35% tint all around on my 08 NBP, but am worried about trouble with cops. Wisconsin law permits 35% in the back, but only 50% up front. Anyone have any experience with tint in Wisconsin or have similar laws? Is this something where a cop won't pull you over just for tint, but would add it on if pulled over for something else. If you do get a ticket, do you have to take it off or can you just pay the fine? Also, in terms of tinting itself, what things do I need to look for from an installer? I know the shop I am looking at has a lifetime guarantee and uses a computer to cut the film to fit make/model.

ohhh 50 in the front, that really sucks, in toronto we can have anything in the back and max. 35 in the front. i did 20 in the back n 35 in front but i changed it to 20 all around because 35 wasnt dark enough. i never had trouble with cops... nothing u really need to know, just u shouldn't pay more than $250 to tint your car. anything more than that is a rip off.

It must vary from state to state. In PA you must have 70% of the light passing through the front side glass. So any tint other than 70% is against our laws but will pass the annual safety inspection. Figure that out. When I got pulled over they give you a citation that must be signed by an inspection mechanic stating that the tint is removed. No $ fine. Good luck but going real dark is only a matter of time until you get pulled over. BTW I got flagged for 35%.

It does vary state to state. Its no tint in the front and anything in the rear. I have 50 front and 30 rear. Just go something close to 50 not too dark and you should be alright unless the cops are real a-holes about it. does your state have inspection?
As for installation, I would look for lifetime warranty for the tint and labor. Mine was hand cut but it looks good.

KM1013, what happens if you don't remove the tint after getting the ticket? In terms of inspections here, the only thing that we have are emissions tests.

If its a fix-it ticket, you just pay the fine, it was like 175 for me, to just keep the tint. No points on your record or anything.

Here in NYC you only get tint tickets if you drive wrecklessly or give attitude to law enforcement. So always be aware of your driving, speeding, not using blinkers are just a reason to be pulled over. I've always had cars with 20% tint and never had a problem.
