Will Black Leather Interior Look Dated?

I am thinking about getting a tsx soon, and am deciding whether to get the black interior with aluminum trim or the brown interior with wood trim. So far, I think that the black interior with aluminum trim looks better, but I am sure that that will look dated in a few years (maybe like five or six years).

What do you all think? Can you think of any cars 5+ year old that have similar aluminum trim that still look okay? Have any pics of these?

I think that I will go with the brown interior even though right now I am attracted to the black interior just because I don't want the car to look dated in a few years.

black with aluminum trim is sweet, that's the combo i have. If you look back to older bmw 5 series, some have the black with aluminum trim, some audi's have the same combo, I believe lexus' gs line had that combo too.

What do you mean by "look dated"? Like out of style? Or like worn out?

I mean that right now it looks fresh and very high tech. But in a few years, it might just look tacky. Imagine someone saying, "Oh yeah, thats that early 2000 style in that car." Kind of like the cheesy synthetic music you often hear in serious movies from the 80's.

Then in 20 years maybe it would look dated. Not 5...

Hard to tell the future though, here is a pic of a 99 323:

I dont think it looks that dated, it looks like it was made 5 years ago. Thats just the progression. Anything out there now will look somewhat "dated" in 5 years...

The only aluminum that I see in that picture is the pedals and maybe a little on the shifter. Also, this car has a sort of raw racing look. Can anybody else find any pictures of just a more "classic" (not a very good word, but I think you know what I mean) look?

Basically, if I can find an older car with this trim that looks good, I think I'm gonna go with black.

Actually, there's a strip of it between the black on the top dash and the grey underbody. It looks a lot like our quartz interior.

If anything, I think the plood will look more dated in 5 years.

Uhhhh, that pic is almost identical to the aluminum/black interior of the TSX.

Gotta admit it.......I LOVE the BMW E46. That is one of the the hottest cars ever! I would have bought one instead of the TSX but for the poor reliability and high price.

Blk/ Blk interior TSX...sry dont think it'll look dated at all, prob gonna get yelled at for this comment but I think that the Black w/ Aluminum interior looks alot sportier, the Wood makes it look like an old mans car on the inside, not a sporty 4 door....just my opinion though.

If ur question was if the leather will be worn...then yeah....my drivers seat looks worse then my old leather jacket, other seats arnt used as much so there not bad, lets just say I spent alot of time in that seat,

This is what I think as well. Black leather interiors don't age well....

I have a 6-yrs old 85000 miles Accord with 'Quartz' leather interior and I much prefer it to dark.

True, but a black shiny leather seat may look old, but I figure an old black leather seat looks better than an old tan leather seat with all those brown/black creases in it! That is why I got black on black...and because i think it looks better...

Black interiors age the best. BEige fades and the leather will just look like crap if it's daily driven.

Isn't a black interior the most timely interior finish you can have?

Basic black will never "date", and the black/silver combo is quite visually crisp and tidy. Black leather is a classic, whether it is in cars or luggage or ............... only problem I have with black is the summer heat. ended up getting the grey interor with cgp, great combination for my personal taste. Black/silver black/chrome has been a stylish combo from times before you were born........and it won't age out.

Actually, at the risk of going on a rant, I think the current Acura styling is pretty conservative, but "classic", something that I think Acura strives for, at least in the recent offerings - I think the TSX will look fresh five years from now, not something than can be said for a lot of the cars on the road at the moment, where stylistic changes are ginned up to create artifically induced obsolescence. (there - I'm done).

Nothing ages faster than color; the interior design world and the clothing fashion world thrive on creating artificial change in order to induce consumerism. Acura's basic array of colors, while limited, is pretty timeless............................
