wierd... think my car might have a defect
well... to make a small story even smaller...
i got gas today and when I was driving off, i noticed that i didn't close the fuel hatch... even more the plastic cap was dangling on the side of my car... right then i looked... no engine "check" light was on... so i pulled over, turned off the car, and then tighten it 3 clicks to shut off... when i started my car the light was still not on... i was like hrmm that was the stupidest thing ive ever done.. but my engine check light didn't come on...
i thought it was supposed to come on if i don't tightne the cap all the way... but this time it was royally just... opened...
is there something wrong with my emission points and computer on this car? has anyone else had the problem?
not really a problem... but quite strange

I think it takes a while for the sensors to pick up the fact that the gas cap is off - it's not instantenous. I think the pressure on the whole system has to drop and that takes a little while.

Your readiness monitors have to detect incorrect information from your EVAP system(n your case) before it will trigger the MIL to come on. This can take from 5 seconds to 5 days depending on driving habbits and the operating system on the car.
