Wicked bad luck - road paint

So Friday on my drive to work I drove through freshly painted yellow lane dividing line. Sure enough the paint filled both wheel wells on the driver's side and splattered the running board.

The biggest problem with all this is that I had no idea until I left work and the paint was at that point fully dried. Of course I went to the car wash immediately, but that did ****-all.

All I want to say is this. Please if you are ever working a road painting crew, put up a couple of freaking cones to let me know that the paint is wet. If you do that, I gurantee that I won't drive over the lines!!

Damn the city!

i had the same problem with my tl ... i would recommend taking off all the rims cleaning the wheel wells, and clay the areas that have paint on them ... should work, i got most of the road paint off like that from my car

Thanks for the goodwill.
I think most of the paint will come out of the wheelwells because of the rubber lining - major question mark there. In the worst case, I can spray them black again.

I am a bit foggy on what exactly you mean by clay for the body. I understand that you mean some buffing technique, but I am not up to speed. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Is it possible to file a complaint against the city? I know some cities let you do that for potholes, and they'll reimburse you for repairs...

Well, you can, but don't waste your time.

I thought about complaining, but I have thought about devoting more of my time right now to getting the damn paint off the runningboard.

Tomorrow, if I have the heart, I'll post some pictures. At this point I am past the stage of being angry...

I will say that the paint on the runningboard is thick and hard now. I am a touch skeptical that this technique will work. At this point I have no better options.

Cheers,

It happened to me before. I just used a 3M swirl mark remover to erase the paint on the surface of my car. It wasn' t that hard to erase. I left tire and wheel wells alone since I knew that parts getting dirty anyway later on. I think you can use acetone to erase paint on wheel wells if you want
