When to wax a new car?

Hi Everyone,
I just took my 2007 TSX to the dealer yesterday for the first oil change and checkup. When I was picking it up, they told me that they had washed the car. I asked if they had waxed the car as well, and was told that you should not wax the car for the first year or you'll get orange peeling in the paint. I've washed and waxed my TSX 3 or 4 times since picking it up in July using Tutrle Wax Ice...Has anybody else heard of this? Thanks!

Never heard of such a thing. I've waxed my car after the first two weeks of ownership and every 3 month after that. I guess I will find out in a couple of years if that was the wrong thing to do.

Orange peel is in the clear coat, and you can not create more orange peel by waxing a car. It's simply part of the paint job from the factory.

The second the car leaves the factory it's paint is fully cured by the use of extreme heat. If, for whatever reason, your car is in the body shop, then no, do not wax it. Leave the paint go for at least 3 months to cure.

So, go clay, polish, and seal your baby the second you can.

And if you haven't, look into getting a clear bra.

First I've heard of this as well.

This is more of a Wash & Wax Subforum topic so I'm going to close this thread. Feel free to start a new thread in Wash & Wax: https://acurazine.com/forums/wash-wax-23/
