When does the low oil light turn on???

how little oil do you have to have to trigger the low oil level light on the gauges? does it keep the engine safe and makes sure your oil level is normal? or should you check the oil level yourself ?

I think you misread and thought the low fuel light. I feel sorry for your motor if you are running low on 4-5G of oil

I can't speak for the TSX, but based upon other cars I've had the light goes on when it's pretty much out of oil. By that time, the engine is basically screwed. Best to check it yourself and be aware of any oil spots in your garage/driveway (if you have either.)

??? Okay, are we taking about oil or fuel.

Fuel....I find I have burned about 50L (??gallons) when the yellow light comes on.

If your talking about oil.....then.....you have seconds to go before before a major failure in most cases. I'm not sure if the TSX has a low oil level (as opposed to pressure) indicator built into this red light on the instrument panel. Honestly, a 9 year could check the oil in this car.....bright orange dipstick, make sure engine is cold and see that its near the higher point on the stick. Do not rely on sensors for your oil - check it yourself or you will pay a humilating consequence.

By the way, it's low oil pressure and not low oil itself, but usually when it's low on oil, the pressure is low as well.
That's how it works in most cars anyway.

You shouldn't rely on the oil light aka "idiot light" to tell you when to check for oil. Additionally, you might experience vtec not engaging due to low oil pressure as a warning sign.

When the oil light goes up, it`s too late. You are missing at least 2½ qts. Not too good.

Yea... that's actually an oil pressure warning. NOT oil level. It's meant to warn you in case an oil pump fails or something.

But it will come on with really low oil because low oil means that there's not enough oil pressure.
