I think people are clouding this question with how they feel shifting INTO or OUT OF a gear. It seems to me like we should be answering "what's your favorite gear to be IN?". "What shift do you like best?" is a totally different question.
....And if I knew how to post a poll, I'd do that now..... Help?

what? no one chose 1st yet? ju guys crazy. 1st gear gets the fun started. it's fun reving to about 4.5k, which can get loud, and then going fast to 2 and 3 quickly. also, it's fun using 1st in bumper-to-bumper traffic (less than 10mph) because then i need to brake only at complete halts. on the down side, i never really drop from 2nd to 1st. i think 3rd gear would be my favorite to downshift into.

I voted for fifth gear, although for me it's too early to really tell right now. I'm still getting used to the spacing and revs and such on the 6-speed, as compared to the five speed V-6 I previously drove.
Previous car had secondary intake runner opening just below 4000rpm, and gearing such that I could fast trot along just below the "fun level" at about 3800 rpm in every gear according to speed limits/road conditions etc. In a 45mph zone, 3rd would put me right there, ready to go at a moments notive if needed. Same with 4th at higher highway-type speeds.
Now I find in the TSX that my "habits" have to be altered fairly radically. I still travel the same roads, but am still seeking the optimal gear to be in when I'm doing so. The TSX has the same "makes its power at higher RPMs" nature as my old ride did, but I gotta discover all its secrets. While keeping perfectly safe, of course. :wink:
