What's that Blue Light

Does anybody know what the blue light that is near the homelink buttons is for?
It only comes on when the lights are on. It's not that bright and will only show in the dark.

That's the mood lighting.

It's just accent lighting to give the interior a blue hue.

It is referred to as interior ambient lighting. It's a blue LED. It only comes on at when you have the parking/headlights on to allow you a small amount of light so that you can see inside the cabin in the dark. There is also a strip of these LEDs just above the upper storage compartment beneath your climate control buttons.

Side note: Not to be a , but there is a search button that you should utilize. I know you're a noob, but use it. Wasting threads is not a good thing.

It doesn't seem very bright though. Does it get brigher at different times or are my eyes deceiving me?

The LED changes slightly when you adjust the dash lights, but it does not adjust itself automagically.

A better test is to stare directly into it for a period of 10 solid seconds...wait until your eyes clear up...then repeat.

Trust me on this one...you'll see how bright it really is for sure! :dog:

I think it's the pupils in your eyes adjusting to the light around you. When it's darker around you, your eyes adjust so you can see better at night. Then it'll seem brighter.

I'm going to switch mine out to RED so the interior is like the inside of a sub during combat mode.

I remember a night with some hydroponics, but that's another story for another website. Anyhoo, I changed out my dome, map and door lights for same color blue LEDs. It's not too over powering, but just the right ambiant lighting. I use the vanity mirror lights to read by if I need to. They're plenty strong enough.

They were easy to change out, but not sure how easy it would be to change the standard LEDs. There are 2 of them, right? There's another between the two center console doors?

it's just an LED.

you should install one under your belt and have it shine, well down.
