whatever happened to this concept
whatever happened to this concept
hmm i was searching for a picture of just a rear of a 2006 aspec kit.. (im on the fence of buying one or fixing my stock sideskirt, and buying the vent near the passenger fog)
and i bounced up on this tsx aspec concept..
to me it looks like a tl in the front because of the extra flare..

what do you guys think of this exhaust?

1st pic looks like the widebody kit that was a concept-only. And am I correct that the show car (1st pic) has a flat front tire? LOL!!
Personally don't like the middle exhaust but that's just my opinion.

I was just thinking about the interior of that car from when i first saw it in pics. I really like the seats, trim on the steering wheel and the accents on the speakers. I would be all over those seats if they were plug and play in our tsx's.
Edit: Wasnt there a silver trim steering wheel available as an oem accessory? Time to go searching...

To answer the question about the kit; The a-spec kit that was offered was pretty pricey (was it $4000?) and Honda wants to keep its cars at a competitive price. TSX is the entry level luxury sedan so they did not want to make the kit too fancy because of the $$$. Also, for price's sake they gave it cheapy factory tires, speakers, battery, vinyl on the seats/leather. It's simple marketing.
That is the best looking TSX
Too good to be a non-concept
The flat tire is there to stop me from stealing it because I was gonna, haha
But the red gauge lights on the inside completely ruin it for me.

Its an interesting concept. The massive fender flares must be part of the body kit. Not a fan of the center exhaust. I have nothing against losing the dual pipes, but I'd prefer to see it brought out one of the sides.
Did anyone else notice what a mish mash of USDM and other parts that car has? Acura grille and logos, USDM headlights. But no sunroof, not sure where that audio system came from, and the dash looks very similar to the one in my sister's Civic, just in metric and with the 6:00 zero initial position. Different shifter, seats aren't power, coin holder below the driver's side vent. The list goes on.

Hate the interior, but when I found that second rear quarter pic shortly after buying my TSX, I wanted that conversion. The price would be prohibitive for me, tho'....

... a closer look....
The more I look at details in the int., the more I choke on it. The silver accents on the steering wheel will just create glare and annoying reflection. The honeycomb stuff looks like ass, just my personal taste. Someone's right, there's USDM Accord and Civic stuff in there. Most dark plastic, less chrome ... that's nice (less glare at night). Red instrument cluster is just clumsy if nothing else in there is red. No power seats was probably just a facile choice in making the concept car, keep it (the model build up) economical and simple to put together.
I presume that many of these touches, if they were to be implemented, would be overlayed onto a stock TSX (power seat, moonroof, et al). Clearly a 2004-2005 TSX there (looking at the hood).
The body kit looks more "aggressive" than the 2009 TSX, perhaps this is where they got some of the ideas, resulting in the Frankenstein's monster mishmash of the '09 (imho).

I don't know about more aggressive. If you look at the front, specifically where the fog lights go, it looks a lot like the 05 TL.
I gotta agree though, the interior really doesn't do anything for me. The honeycomb overlay looks cheap. Not a fan of the extra steering wheel accents either. I don't mind the ones in the 1G TSX, but there's buttons there. The accents on either side of the center console are a bit much too. And I really gotta agree about the comment about the red guages. Not a fan. I like the rims though. Well, minus the flat tire of course
