What should I pay for an 04 Demo TSX 6MT?

Hey all,

My local dealer has a 2004 TSX 6mt with 2100 miles that is a demo. How much should I expect to pay or should I be willing to pay for it?

Thanks all,
Chris

I wouldn't buy a demo because of the abuse they take and the lack of proper break-in.

The most important miles on a new car are the first 1,000 miles.

The most I would consider paying for a demo would be $2,000.00 below invoice -- so that would put it at around 22,500.00 to 23,0000 w/o Nav but including dest. charge.

Used TSX's, with 12,000 miles, are selling for $27,000.00. So, it is not likely that you will be able to get a "deal" on a demo.

I bought mine used with 7500 miles... 6mt w/navi. I was going to buy a new one but someone was trading in theirs for a TL. --- $24500 --- Acura offers their preowned cars with a 100,000/powertrain warranty. I paid an additional $500 to change the powertrain warranty to bumper to bumper. Probably didn't need it, but, what the heck... No problems since... Love the car!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought a demo 6MT w/o Nav w/silver star wheels, mud guards, OEM rubber floor mats, wheel locks w/4800 miles for $24800 - destination, prep waived by the dealer. I went to high school with the sales manager, so feel a little more comfortable buying a demo from someone I know...

The problem with a demo is that the dealer still considers it a "new" car since it hasn't been titled yet and often still puts the original sticker price on the window.

Ask to find out what the mileage is from, dealer trade, test drives, service loaner, etc.

Invoice new for a non-nav is around $24700. I wouldn't pay more than $23000.

if u can find a used one, in nor cal there is nutin!! the demo tsx w/ navi usually go for the same price as a new one w/o navi ($25k) they still consider it brand new. they have the orignal window sticker on it but it says "demo vehicle do not sell" or some shit. if its without navi than they'll probly still ask around $24k

While I might not mind an AT demo, you are taking chances with an MT demo. Besides the usual improper break in - you don't know how many people drove the car that have virtually no MT experience and took many many miles off the clutch. And the warranty won't help you on a worn out clutch.

That's true.

Maybe you could make a deal with the dealer asking for 50% off when you get the clutch replaced.

Seriously, I wouldn't take it unless it's like $2k under invoice.

2000 miles of demo miles? What does EVERYONE do on test drives... they floor the car. Imagine that being done for 2000 miles.. that car had a bad break-in period.

I wouldn't be worried about that - it's the first time/inexperienced MT drivers wearing out the clutch that I'd worry about.
One tip when buying a used MT car - ask the owner (in this case the salesman) drive the car while you are in the pass seat and ask them to drive you around a hilly area. Then notice their proficency when taking off uphill from a stop - that will tell you how the clutch was used.

is this a 'demo' or an ex-loaner? if a demo, i wouldn't sweat the fear of abuse too badly...

at most dealerships these days, there are probably an average of three employees who get a demo. all of them are going to have a significant stake in the profitabilty of the dealership. there is the chance they had to give it out to someone as a loaner, but that doesn't happen too much.

i would guess that they expense ~$500 a month for the demo. i would think invoice minus $1000 would be a good ending number.
