What kind of dealer doesnt give loaners?

Hey, can anyone tell me a good dealership in SoCal that gives loaners when you bring your car in for warranty work? Tustin Acura refuses to give me a loaner unless the problem is "life threatening".

Damn, the Infiniti dealer that we service my wifes car doesnt even blink about giving loaners. I hope its just this dealer and not all of them.

I guess it would depend on what is being done. if it's something that's only going to take 1-2 hours to fix, then I can see them not wanting to give you a loaner.

What?!!!! Even a Kia dealer gives you a loaner when doing warranty work.

My dealership(still a stealership) never hesitates.

Weird....my dealer gave me a loaner for my 30k mile service when they found out I had planned on waiting for it. Instead of sitting in the waiting room, I went to the mall for a couple hours.

My dealer (Acura of Cerritos) told me that they only give loaners for service that takes more than one day to complete.

Did you purchase the car from them? My dealership forgets who you are if you didn't purchase with them.

my experiences with getting loaners in san diego:

ball acura in national city (where i bought the car): no free loaners, rent through enterprise

cush acura in kearny mesa (where i take my car for service): loaners when available. i got a tsx loaner when i brought in my tsx for some warranty work. they usually don't give out loaners for oil change, but when my cousin brought in his mdx and wanted to get lunch during that time, they gave him a tsx and said see you in an hour.

That's what I get all the time. And when they have to order a replacement part, they tell me pick up the car, and come back when it arrives... a hassle, but nothing I can do about it.

My dealership won't give out a loaner if it will just take a couple hours, or even half the day. Only a job that takes more than a day, they give out loaners.

Apparently waiting a couple hours in a cramped room with cold coffee and a small 15 inch TV doesn't seem to be a problem to them.

But then again, my stealership has a nice big tv, nice leather chairs and freshly brewed coffee

I was able to get a loaner when getting some warranty work done. When I called for my appointment, I made it clear that I needed a loaner. Just told them I work out of town and need to go to work. I think it depends a lot on the service rep though. If a loaner is available he/she can let you use it at their discretion.

Good point. No, I didn't purchase from the dealer where I take it in for service. :sigh: I would hope that has nothing to do with it but I suspect that it may.

I've never had warranty work done there, but they did seem stingy when I was inquiring about other service there. I got one at weir canyon while doing warranty work.

I think a dealership's loaner fleet size has something to do with it too. Seems like they had more cars on hand to hand out when I went there at 7am on a saturday.

Baierl Acura in Pittsburgh will drive to me, drop off a loaner, pick up my TSX, and re-deliver my car once any service has been performed. I called the other day for an oil change and a squeek from the head liner and that wasnt a problem. I wouldn't buy a car from a dealer that doesnt offer that service.

Yea, I was in Bellevue for the summer and Acura of Bellevue did a great job. When i brought the car in for warranty work they gave me a loaner no questions asked even though it was only going to take them a couple hours to check it out.

Rick Case Acura - No loaners unless the car is staying over night.

From what I understand, each Acura dealership gets certain number of loaner cars sponsored by the factory based on the number of vehicles that they sell. They need to keep those cars for X number of months or X number of miles before Acura would allow the dealer to sell the loaners as "Demos". I'm sure that when that time arives, dealers get those loaner cars at a big discount from Acura. Now, as dealer, if you manage to keep those demos fairly low milage until the time when Acura would allow you to sell them, then you can make a bigger profit on them...

Another reason why some Acura dealerships need to take a page out of Lexus and improve their customer service.

Not in SoCal, but my dealership in STL gives loaners out w/o batting an eye. When I had my TSX in they gave me a TL loaner, which was a surprise.

The sticker was in the glovebox and where it normally says MSRP: $----.00 it said "MSRP: DLR LNR" I had never seen that before. This loaner had 6,000 miles and let me tell you, you can tell it had been RODE HARD. Yet another reason why I would never buy a demo or program car!

I would think that if the dealer needs the car overnight for warranty repairs that a loaner would be appropriate.

Hi,

When i asked for a loaner during my recent service at Radley acura in VA they told me we need to book them in advance and i waited there for 7 hours there !!!

They never told me it is going to take 7 hours in the begining and after the first three hours when i asked how long it is going to take they saidnot more than half an hour as only car wash is pending and then when i checked after hour i got the reply "It should be ready by now!!"

Earlier when ever i take there for Service it usually takes 4 hours on an average and now i am thinking of taking my acura to another near by dealer..

Regards
Mars

When the dealership gets the approval to sell the loaner as a demo, Acura sends the dealer a "normal" window sticker with the MSRP on it.
