What kind of air fresheners do you guys like/use/recommend?

My TSX is only 7 weeks old, so it still has the new car smell which i plan on keeping as long as possible, but when it goes away (as it always does) you gotta bust out the air freshener to give your car that nice smell that's not too strong, but pleasant...

i'm a big fan of California Scents - Laguna Breeze

but it's pretty damn hard to find up here in Canada it seems, Canadian Tire has it on and off, but I don't know where to find it consistantly... i always got compliments on how nice and clean my car smelled, without being overpowering...

Either way i'm just curious to see what kind of products ppl use...

I found these things that you can put in the a/c vents ( I use the vents on the far left and far right the small circle ones in the dash). They smell good and are hidden really well in those spots. I have the blue ones they look kinda like a "T" and are about 2.5 inches long, I am not sure of the scent but it isnt flowery or anything and it isnt overpowering.

I am in the same boat as you. My TSX still smells new (after 3 1/2 months).

Do any of those "new car smell" fresheners really work?

It's all about the "MYSHALDAN" hands down. And this one in particular:
for the jdm effect.

MYSHALDAN??

i've never tried any of those 'new car smell' fresheners... i'll stick with the genuine new car smell for now :p ...

i always thought that i'd find ones that mount onto the A/C vents annoying, and intrusive cuz most of the ones i've seen are HUGE like these

but if they have small ones available maybe it wouldn't be so bad...

the other beauty of the cans is that u can hide 'em under your seat and everything still smells nice, and noone can see where it's coming from...

I absolutely love this stuff from Yankee Candle Company which can be found in most malls. My friend has had his Accord for 2 years and he's constantly had one of these in his cars since the day of purchase and that new car smell is still as strong as ever.

I started using them as soon as I got my TSX, and for 2 bucks a peice, you can't go wrong in terms of price.

^^^ Those are okay as well...

MYSHALDAN - you generally can get these at "asian" grocery stores and the likes. They are made in japan and last a good 6 weeks. I constantly get compliments on how good my car smells. "Trust me you won't be dissappointed with them." So I recommend you guys try these.

^^I used the Meguiars leather conditioner on the seats the other day, and it smelled pretty good, but it went away after two days or so... maybe the zaino stuff is stronger? :shrugs:

And I have a coconut air freshener, too. Just got a comment from my aunt who is visiting this week and was in my car yesterday. She said it still smells new, and it's 2 years old.

i think you're using what im also using. i forget what they're called but they're like you described, T shaped, 2.5 inches long and hide really well in the air vents (main reason i got them). the smell isnt so strong that it hits you in the face, but instead slowly "grows on you."

You can also get those Glade room freshners (the small square refill things) and place them under your seat (or in your trunk..lol) they smell good but can be SUPER strong if they get to hot. They last a long time and I always had compliments in the way my car would smell with one in it.

I used to use the Glade ones for a bit, but it'd get SO strong in the heat like you said, that i gave up on those...

i'm curious about these T shaped air fresheners now... anyone have any more info?

During the hot months, a dryer sheet under the seat works if you like the smell. I usually don't use air freshener in my car, though.

go drive yourself to toronto on Spaldina ave and go to any asian market and they should have that. my favorites are the lime and grapefruit; it's always in my small cupholder

Get some Meguiar's leather conditioner and every passenger will say "Your car smells like crayon's!" Ha. Mine still smells new but I just did the leather seats so we'll see what happens.

Leather in a bottle can easily be called "New car smell in a bottle". I've still got the new car smell after 9 months.

I'd would HIGHLY recommend "Squash" scented japanese fresheners. It's honestly the best scent for cars. Lots of companies make it, just check it out on the net.

I got the same kind of air freshener in Squash (blue). Sounds weird, but smells real good.

EuRTSX - You can find them on eBay. Just search "air spencer" or "air spencer giga". Or you can find them at "Asian" car shops that sell knockoff Altezza lights and stuff like that.

dang... i really thought I was the only one using this brand, let alone the Laguna Breeze scent (which is for sure their best one)...

I used to keep it under my driver seat, and it used to work fine, in the heat and in the winter...

hmmm walmart eh? i might see if i can find a can of this stuff there tommorow...

...i mentioned MY SHALDAN to one of my 'JDM' friends tonight and he freaked out about how amazing it was... lol

does no one use the pine tree cutouts anymore? :p

Close enough... LOL... I'm Thai in all actuality. Although my buddies (mostly that are asian) say, "your car smells like a typical Asian car." I'm like thanks...

Another vote for the Air Spencer. Bought one at a smog shop recently while testing my beemer. I'd say it smells better than the new car smell or any other air freshener. New stuff smells weird to me, dunno why.

Everyone that gets in my car is like ooooohhh aaaaahhhh and I'm like "easy now,
dont stain my seats"... But yeah everyone says MMMMM new leather even in my old IS300...
