WHat does pinging sound like?
I have an 06 tsx AT with 40k on it. Its stock except the rear sway bar and has 5w-30 Valvoline Synpower in it. Engine runs smooth and consumes no oil and always use octane 91 gas from chevron, shell and 76.
I notice that it will make a ticking noise that is somewhat metallic. Its noticeable when accelerating slowly. More noticeable when accelerating in low rpms. Is this pinging or just the fuel injectors?? Is there a TSB for this?
Going to bring it in for the recall and may ask them about this concern but want to hear from enthusiast first.

still plays with cars
Pinging (or spark knock or pre-ignition) does not occur in modern engines with electronic fuel and spark control as long as you use fuel with at least 87 octane. Primitive engines with carburetors and mechanical spark control ping if the spark is advanced too far or the fuel-air mixture is too lean or the fuel octane is too low. Pinging can be described as a coffee can with marbles being shaken. Electronically controlled engines have one or more knock sensors which detect pinging and adjust the spark timing accordingly.
You are probably not hearing pinging. My 06 makes some clattering noise when cold, but I think it's the injectors clicking - goes away within a few minutes.
