What are the different chimes when entering the car?

I noticed that sometimes my car makes different sequences of chimes (beeps, chirps, dings, whatever you want to call them). This happens the moment I open the drivers' side door.

Any idea what the different chimes mean? I'm suspecting they have something to do with one or more of the following:
1. How the car was unlocked (key, fob, from inside?)
2. What doors were opened first (like if I open the trunk, put something in, close the trunk, then open the main door -- I think I get a different ding sequence).
3. Aliens.

Anyone know?

If you disarm the security (and unlock the doors) with the fob the parking lights flash. If you open the door as the lights are flashing, you activate the "lights on, key out of the ignition" chime that's intended to remind you to turn the lights off when leaving the car.

Just the way they work. Only way to avoid is to wait a few seconds after unlocking before opening the door.

I think you're hearing the lights on ding every once in a while.

It's not the key-in-ignition, as the keys are still in my hand.
Lights aren't on as I haven't stepped into the car yet.

I think it has something to do with how the car was unlocked, or if another door was opened prior to the drivers' door being opened. Ahwell.... chalk it up to VIN# 00032 having a personality disorder.

Point is the lights are "on" as they flash to indicate the security is de-activated.
