What car to purchase with 20-30Gs
My lease for my Infiniti QX4 is coming to an end, and i want to enjoy a nice sporty sedan/coupe that can be fun and luxurious.
My price range is 20-30gs, no more. A Japanese car with manual transmission of course. Some cars that are on my list are WRX, RSX type S, TSX type S, new Maxima, G35 sedan/coupe. There are more but these are from the top of my head. I am looking for some decent speed, something that will shut up some ricers i see on the road.
Please give me your suggestion. Thank You

First of all, there is no TSX Type S. Also, you can scratch the G35 off your list because you can't get one for under $30K. I realize that technically you can, but you won't find any. Finally, just go out and buy the TSX. I don't know how many ricers you are going to shut up with speed (the car isn't blazing fast), but it's just the best damn car out there for the money.

Hey! My kind of shopper. I too was interested in the WRX and RSX while shopping for the TSX. Now that I am married, my priorities have changed somewhat. It now looks like rather than a polished 4-door, I will have to look at something more pratical. Practial in the sense of cargo space, i.e. SUV, or (shudder) minivan.
But I've got the wife agreed to an WRX wagon, so I will maintain some semblance of a driving enthusiast yet.
Other cars I was interested in was a GTI, Honda EX I4. I also looked at an IS300.
I think I'll be driving a WRX a year from now.

Remember what autospies said on their website a few weeks ago... The TSX, hands down they say, is their favourite car under $30,000. Makes your decision kinda easy, no?

I completely agree. We often make too much of our particular car winning award, etc. But all the acclaim only points to the opinions of particularly journalists, and there are some who prefer other vehicles. For example, in the comment following the review of the TSX, one editor noted that he wouldn't buy a TSX because he saw the M6 as the superior vehicle.

OK, well you say Japanese only, so that narrows it down. WRX and RSX are not luxurious so you can strike those off the list. G35 is over 30 grand, so strike that off your list....so you are left with the TSX or the Maxima. Thats a pretty easy choice.

I agree as well. But you can't please everyone. The key is the fact that the majority or TSX reviews and articles give very favorable results.

hey Jason !!
You CAN get a G35 for under 30K, actually you can get an auto or a 6spd. with leather and a sunroof for about 29.5. No premum package (reclining rear seats, 200 w Bose and memory). But I tell you 100%, you can. I have been shopping around for a while and the only reason I haven't bought the G35 is because I want to test drive the TL. You can even get a Vector for about 30K, GM is giving a 4K rebate to the dealers, so there is about 6K to play with.

if you get the new Maxima for cheap...it might be a better value than the TSx...can't go wrong with the added luxury and the v6 265 since speed is what you're looking for.

Problems with the new Maxima: cheap poorly laid-out interior, torque steer, quesetionable exterior styling, lousy ride in the SE version. If you are going to spend money of for a optioned out Maxima, you might as well just get a TL, which is bound to be the better car.

Here is what Consumer Reports had to say about the ride:
"The ride is stiff and jiggly, and quick, frequent body motions make the car feel unsettled"
That said, the ride on the SL is about as comfortable as an Accord.

Get the TSX non-navi and put $4K in the bank. ![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I had a G35 ... not a bad car if you shut your eyes so you don't see the interior when you drive it.

Somebody over at Edmunds claimed that there is a comparo between the TSX, G35, A4, and 325 in the next issue of Automobile, with the TSX as the winner. I don't know if that is true or not.

I guess so.
I'm starting to wish I had waited for the TL though!
