Sorry I missed one thing, where's the 2.0L from the 04 S2000? In what I've read so far over at Wards they love to talk about HP per litre, where's the undisputed champion?

A new 10 Best list for 2004 is just out. The 3L v6 is the only Honda engine on the list. The Renesis rotary and Prius system are new additions.

I agree with you. I have a hard time believing this too. If they were to match those engines with NA engines, they'd have to take the turbos off. Then we'd see what is the best all-motor engine.

I have a hard time seeing a Hemi in there and not seeing the M5's 5litres, which is, apparently, a fantastic engine. Same for the GT3's 3,6litres.

I would like to believe our fellows here are not used to considering engines outside the American market. As much as a Hemi is a good torquey engine, I don't think it belongs anywhere near the top ten.

As for Ford's powerstroke, it is a very good engine, that is agreed. But if you're going to represent diesels, why not slap in VW's V10 TDI? Or one of Mercedes's diesels?

Edit: I just read the article linked up and I can see their criteria, such that engines for trucks had to be represented in a prportion equal to its market shares in the US. Also, as they said, an exotic car's engine should be outstanding, granted, so they don't take it into account. Well, to me that pretty much lays the case for a list of the top ten outstanding average engines. This would be why M5 engine would not figure there as well as the TDI V10.

I am really interested in seeing an actual ultimate top ten. You will see one or 2 Hondas in there for sure.

Thanks dnb, I edited my post. I guess the 10 Best link on their webpage was'nt updated.

But still no 04 S2000 2L

I wonder why they specified Accord Coupe along with the 3L Honda. That tells me there looking more at the overall vehicle because of the available 6 Speed than the engine.

The home page of wardsauto.com indicates that GM, Ford and Chrysler employees have site subscriptions. I'd speculate that there's a quota (possibly internal) on engines from the US car companies.

This is huge for Dodge!! The diesel that International Truck and Engine Corp. makes for Ford Motor Co. is a great engine. It has won this award several times.
