Though I think at least 2 things from releasing racing parts straight out for street tuners are:
- emission
- durability
I am not as familiar with SCCA stuff as with Formula One, but I presume these racing engines are more or less taken apart (if not entirely but still quite extensively?) after each one or two races and kind of rebuilt for the next round. Just my
