VIN question
VIN question
I have ordered a 2005 TSX and don't want to wait for it. My dealer said they would trade with another dealer if they could find one at another dealer. I check on all the Acura dealers that I can find in the state for the car I am looking for. I have noticed that a lot websites have the VIN number. I have learned from searches on this great website:
Example:
VINs with JH4CL95 should be TSX's with 6MT
VINs with JH4CL96 should be TSX's with 5AT
For the TSX, the 8th digit determines the navigation option. 8 is no navi; 9 is navi.
This means that for US TSX's, the first 8 digits must be one of:
JH4CL958
JH4CL959
JH4CL968
JH4CL969
This has been very helpful since I am looking for a 6mt/Navi car, just look for 959 (really cool porsche). My question is, do any of the other numbers indicate interior or exterior colors? I am looking for a CG or SSM with ebony interior. Any help would be appreciated.

On Car Search, when they decode a car, don't they get the color off of the vin? Or is it the build sheat or something else stamped on the car? I was thinking it was from the vin, that is why I asked about the color. Maybe I am wrong, or maybe times have changed since the 60s. Anyway, thanks for the information.
Has anyone signed up for ownerlink on the acura website? When you enter your vin, it automatically determines your car and post a picture of it. The picture of mine is black, and my TSX is also black. Anyone else get a different color picture than their own car?

It's been awhile since I registered, did we have to enter the dealership where we purchased the car or was it automatically entered when we put in the vin number. I would think the dealer submits the info to Acura for the ownerlink database when the car is sold. I received an email from Acura with my username and password to access ownerlink and the e-mail mentioned the dealership where I bought my car. I forgot if the email was from initially registering into ownerlink or if that was an invite to access ownerlink.
