Using NAV To Determine MPG

I've read on several threads that people are using their NAV unit to determine MPG. I am assuming they are not referring to the messgae center in the dash the determines MPG, range average speed, etc. So, if the NAV unit is able to do this, how do you go about usiing this feature?

TIA, Greg

I believe beginning in the 2006 model year, the MPG and related functions were moved to the center of instrument cluster. In 2004/2005, it was integrated into the Navi unit.

The navi has a menu option called trip computer and will give real time MPG along with range, miles traveled, etc. It can be reset automatically every time you fill up or manually. If you are in an 06 or 07, not sure if its the same since they are available in the center cluster like ZAX said.

There is an "info" button between the "zoom" and "AC" buttons. Select that and "trip computer" should be the first option. select it and watch the magic happen.

Here's what it looks like.

Thanks guys. CJams, I did what you suggested and that option did not turn up. I believe ZAXDude is correct in the fact that this feature is now incorporated into the instrument cluster as that's where it is displayed in my '06. I guess the upside is now, even those without the NAV can enjoy this feature.
