Used '04 TSX, good deal?
Hi everyone. I'm new here but been lurking for a while since I'm thinking about purchasing a TSX. I found a used '04 TSX that is slightly modified and for sale at a local car dealership(Pfleuger Acura Maui). They're asking $27,900 for it. it's fairly brand new with just 15,xxx miles on it. I'm just wondering if it's a good deal since i know that '06-07 are being sold for around that price range(but not locally here).
Modifications that it has are a Comptech airbox and TEIN Flex suspension.

For that price.
Someone go tell that dealership that Modifications don't raise resale value.

that's what i thought. i went online earlier before i went to work to check what the KBB value is on a used '04 TSX. i'm going to bargain with the guy to bring down to the low twenties.

You said that you are in Maui which is a complicating factor. You're basically at the mercy of the (only?) dealership on the island unless you buy a TSX on the mainland and have it shipped.

I doubt shipping would cost him 4-5k. Buy a 22K 04, and have it shipped for ~$500?

Depending on where he lives, but I'd say that's a fair shipping quote. Never would exceed 2k across the states.

Maybe you should take advantage of some good interest rates now being offered.

ok, so i just got back from the dealership. i test drove the car. it's a big difference from my '00 accord 4 cyl. sat down and talked some numbers. i stated some facts from what i gathered on my own research. told them what KBB value is for the car and that they have it marked up big time. they finally gave in to lowering the sale price from $27,900 to $25,651. a lil bit closer to KBB but still kind of high. they estimated what my montly payments would be and it's really out of my range. bargained a bit, and they didn't want to budge. now the interesting part comes.
sales manager comes out of his office to talk with me. i kept telling them that if i can get monthly payments to a range where i'm satisified with, then most likely i'll want to purchase the car, but not today since i still had other things to do besides sitting down at a dealership all morning. i asked the sales manager if he could drop down the sales price more from $25,651 but he states that with all the added parts, that's why the price is where it stands and they can't go any lower. how the hell does aftermarket parts add value? he looked at me like i was stupid. i told him that if i were to trade in my accord with all that i had done with it, would i get what i wanted for trade in since i got rims and tires, stereo, wings west lip kit, suspension, and upgraded leather interior? the sales manager was in silence. that's when i told him that i would love to do business with them in the future but not this day.

Never negotiate based on a monthly payment, never. Its a sales tatic. Always negotiate off the price.
Did you talk new 06's? Or are they asking 35K?

Shipping should still be in the $500 area. Guy at work shipped a Vette from Cali to Toronto for $500. Mind you that was in the back of a truck, not a boat.

one thing that i was going to do was announce that i did have a trade. get them all flustered.
btw, i did negotiate with the selling price. at least i got them to lower it more BUT i would like to have seen it slightly lower.
