UPDATE!! FROM ACURA on my Clutch going at 30K Miles

Patrick,

EMAIL from my service adviser:

I have some amazingly great news for you. I am happy to announce that after arduous hours of going back and forth, I was able to convince Acura to cover the clutch completely under warranty for you. It was not easy, especially with the modifications to the car, but the deed is done and I need the car till next week due to part orders. Do you have transportation for the duration of the repair?

Holy Crap. What should I buy the service guy?

I am an Acura customer for life!

I truly can't believe it. I offered the service guy my redskins ticket for this weekend, if he doesn't want that I was thinking I'd give him 200 bucks? Or i have a brand new netbook that I could give him.

Take care of the service reps and they will take care of you. Your dealer shoould offer you a loaner car - pretty standard with Acura.

I agree...nice move, considering what he did. That's the sort of 'thank you' he probably does not receive very often, if at all. Well done.

It was the least I could do. I spoke to the Service Manager as well and he went to bat for me with Acura, saying simply "30K miles is too soon for a clutch to go. I would like to help this guy out." So Acura said "go for it." And now I have a great relationship with the service manager and my Service Adviser - in the end it turned out to be a blessing that my clutch went.

Congrats on the warranty deal, but the skeptic in me thinks he probably made a phone call, and 20 seconds later it was a done deal. I agree it pays to be on a first name basis with your service adviser, but he's making it sound like he parted the Red Sea to get Acura on board. Don't forget that dealers have quite a bit more input into what will be covered under warranty that most realize.

I really don't care how long the phone call took. And I know the dealers have a ton of input, as a matter of fact Acura Customer Service told me that it is primarily up to the dealer and to talk to the manager first. None of that matters dude, what matters is that they didn't have to do it, didn't even have to spend 20 seconds on the phone, but they did. And they have a customer for life. If you want to be negative about it and think that dealers are all crooks - go for it.

That wasn't my point at all. I tend to be one of the members here that are more supportive than most of finding and using a good dealer. It's just that the email that your service guy sent you almost made me laugh as he seemed to pat himself on the back til it hurt. You're right..... it doesn't matter how or why..... Acura will take care of it (as they should), but as I said at the beginning of my earlier post, the skeptic in me couldn't help but get a charge out of that email (and I can't imagine that I'm the only one).

I am taking my tsx to get the power steering recall done along with other things on Tuesday. I am going to tell the service manager about this post and get him to write his opinion. I am friends with him and got him to register as a member.

When I took my car for the power steering recall I asked my friend, the service manager, about warranty work. Yes they do have a lot of imput into what will be covered as long as it is less than $500.00. Even so now they have to get the ok from the acura corporate warranty rep on more things than before. My friend did say He will do more for you-if you do not DEMAND, do not BS him,are a repeat customer, etc. He did say that e-mail sounded right-They are times he had to do alot of convincing with corporate.

Gracias for checking on that. I figured Simba91102 was being a little too skeptical.

I love happy endings. It's always great when the dealer takes care of you for something reasonable like this.

Not exactly game tickets, but I once dropped off donuts for the service department "just because" they always do a great job and I wanted to show a little appreciation. I really like my dealership and am on a first name basis with my SA. We had a lot of interactions this year when my car kept breaking.

I just bought a car from them yesterday and it was probably about as painless a process as it can be.

Yup, I did, a few months ago. I'll do another one soon about my recent purchase. They were the #1 rated Acura dealer last year and from my experience, it is easy to see why.
