TSXes as Loaners???

Has anyone else seen this? I saw a Meteor Silver TSX as a loaner this weekend in Houston. It actually shocked me because with the limited number of TSXes coming to the US, I can't believe a dealer is using one as a loaner.

Yup, I got a MSM TSX loaner 2-3 weeks ago when I brought my TSX in. It only had 300 miles on it and the service dude said Honda just sent it in to be a loaner. I'm assuming Honda decides which vehicles are loaners and not the dealer? this was at Courtesy Acura in Sanford, FL.

I've seen TSX'es as loaners in the Maryland area. Heck, that was the only way we could see some of the colors as none of the dealers around here have much in the way of options in stock.

One of the dealers here said they were planning on getting 7-8 TSX'es to use as loaners. Unfortunately, they all seem to be Automatics with no Navi.

Vale,

JohnS

It was Gillman Acura. (Buncha losers anyways)

What makes no sense is that there are TSXes being used as loaners in some places, and in other places, there are waiting lists for the car a mile long. Not sure what Honda and Acura are thinking here...

Yup... I've seen TSX loaners in my area as well. They all seem to be silver, auto, non-navi.

maybe they're trying to bring in the other non-TSX owners by letting them use the TSX. Don't you think that's a good idea. and it is the next closest thing to the 04 tl.
btw, if ur in Houston i heard that Gillman will void your warrantee if they find out your car is modded.

My TSX arrived on a Saturday at Niello Acura in Sacramento. My Internet sales guy took pity on me, knowing I'd been driving a rental car for some time, and arranged for me to drive a brand new TSX (less than 200 miles on it) "loaner" for a couple of days until I picked up my own ride on Monday.

A few of the dealerships here in the L.A. area have TSX loaners. The guy at Santa Monica Acura said they have 3 TSX loaners. Yeah, it is a bummer that this happens, but they have their reasons. Hopefully they will use the loaner for customer test drives (I test drove an auto loaner and manual demo car) as much as possible instead of fresh cars right off the flatbed, as it seems people always hammer the car in those 15 minutes...

My dealer just got 2 more TSX's in the other day. I looked at the window sticker and instead of MSRP it said Service Loaner in bold print.

It makes sense to use the TSX as a loaner car. It's a brand new car that I'd say most people don't even know about yet. It's to the dealer's advantage to get it some "facetime" with the public that way. It's certainly what I'd be doing if I owned an Acura dealership.

The cheapest cars are the loaner cars. The RSX is cheaper but not as spacious as a TSX.
Lexus uses the ES 330 and RX 330 as loaners.
Benz uses the C-class.
BMW uses the 3 series.
There are a few exceptions (for instance u may get a rental car or u may get a rare higher priced loaner).

Why don't they just use 2003 TL's? Most dealers still have those on their lot, and they're going to be difficult to move.

Man, this is making me jealous. When I took my TSX in for the 10k service I got a beater Integra for a loaner. Now, I know there are some Integra fans here, so I'll give the car the benefit of the doubt and just say this particular one had seen some very hard use. My wife laughed so hard when she saw it.

it's absurd. why the hell would they need to advertise a car that they can't keep on the lots?!?!?

I agree that they should loan out the TL, or some other Acura dog that they can't move.

Now, if the loaner doubles as a demo car, fine. THAT would make sense.

To increase demand (and selling price), of course. 9 out of 10 people I meet who compliment me on my car had never heard of it previously. If the 1 out of 10 people "in the know" like us are already buying every car they can put on the lot (we're over 15k sold now), imagine what happens to the demand when all 10 out of 10 people know about the TSX.

Just dropped my TSX off this morning at Acura 101 to check my alignment and I spotted at least 5 TSX's in the lot that had "Acura 101 courtesy car" on the back window...

That's gotta piss off these people that are waiting months for the cars...

Turnersville in NJ has 04 TL's as loaners. I did see a CG/EB/Auto/Navi TSX loaner in Westchester Acura (PA).

I got an MDX as a loaner (montreal). I felt like never coming back to pick up my TSX.

We've been blasted with almost 2 feet of snow for the last week so an MDX was a great thing...

I took my 2000 Integra GS-R for service a few weeks ago to Acura of Pasadena (Calif.) and some lucky SOB got a TSX as a loaner! What really pissed me off was that I'm in my late 30's, planning on trading the Integra for a TSX next spring and all I got was a ride back to my office (although in a brand new TL). This guy was probably in his late 50's, early 60's, probably dropping off his RL and he got a TSX! What gives?!?

My dealership also got some TSX loaners too! However, right now, my TSX is being fixed for the audio system and the loaner they are giving me is an RSX!

Still, the RSX is a blast to drive. In fact, it's great fun! By the way, if you think that the TSX is the Queen of Rattles, try this RSX... it's only got 14K miles but it's rattling like the whole thing is going to fall apart! LOL

Dave Mungenast Acura in St. Louis uses TSX as loaner cars. I was surprised too when I saw a sticker on the rear window of a TSX saying it was a courtesy car.

My dealer uses both rsx's and tsx's as loaners. All of the cars are fitted with rubber mats and sunroof visors.

My dealership in Richmond VA also has the TSXes as loner cars, however, if you are under 21 you can't use them.

When I visited Acura of Cerritos (Southern California) the salesman showed me two TSX loaners. They have a white one and a meteor blue one, both automatics. He told me that if you buy a car from their dealership then you get a TSX as a loaner but if you bought from someone else then you get something less. Oh well, he wouldn't budge on the price so I bought elsewhere.

Well...I think this has already been mentioned...but...

the TSX is Acura's smallest, least expensive sedan. I think they chose sedans because they're more practical than a coupe--they have more room.

I say: why not a TSX? I absolutely loved having a TSX for a day + overnight. I think I'll post a review soon...
