TSX - Winter

I would like to know if some of you are planning to keep the stock tires/wheels this winter or you will buy some winter tires/steel rims ?

Thank you

I plan on getting some 16 inch steel rims with 205/65/16 inch tires.

Although, I may stick with the stockies for this winter as the tires are new so should have more grip, but its not likely.

There is no need to do that here in this town but if I lived back in Michigan I'd have to agree with domn. I can't believe I wrote that???

I want to get snow tires. I checked tire rack and they recommend a smaller tire, I might get that.

Well sorry for my lack of precision, but the question was for owners located in Canada (or US East Coast). Sorry

So I assume the best thing will be to buy some 16" steel rims + Winter Tires ( $$$$ )

Well just in case your interested Crappy Tire has Nordic Ice Tracs on sale this week. I had these tires on my Civic and I must say for the $65.00 each I paid them there were nice tires. So I called today to inquire about 205/65/16's as I figured they may be about $80.00 each. I was told that they're not available in that size. But they are available in 215/65/16 and are sale for $95.99 (Reg $106.99) Because of that high price and the fact I'd rather go skinny and since I know other tires are available in the size I want so I won't bother with the Ice Trac's. Service is piss poor at Crappy Tire as well. I had to wait 10 minutes on the phone so they could tell me they don't come in that size.

Blizzaks get my vote too, I've been really happy with them over the past 8 yrs or so. A bit expensive and they wear fast, but they sure do grip. What I'm not sure about is if going to 16" steelies is worth it, just to get a tire only 1 cm narrower (205 vs 215). Only a 4% difference. I'm thinking maybe go the same route as JaTe and just put winters on the stock rims and maybe buy some nice 18's for the summer.

I was trying to decide between the new Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 with studs and the studless Michelin Arctic Alpin on 16" steel rims ... except that I now see that neither is available in a 16" TSX-Accord size (so as to avoid clearance problems). Hmmmmm - for the company that makes the best snowblowers in the world, they don't seem to have thought this through completely.

I'm planning on keeping the all-season tires that come with the car. If you're going to switch to winter tires, you might as well get 3-season tires for better performance in those seasons when the stock ones are done.

However, it's the law in some areas to have chains on your tires in certain conditions (Lake Tahoe, CA area when it's bad - may not be as cold as in Canada, but gets a good amt. of snow). So, I know that Acura recommends some chains that won't damage your car, but I wonder if there are any better ones out there for similar price. I've seen some before that are like wire-type and either "net" or snap on. Thoughts?

I think that the all-seasons will be acceptable enough to get me through this first winter... and then next year ill be able to consider my options.
