And the AT's in the '03-up gen. Accords are (so far) way more reliable than the '98-'02 versions. And yes there was a product update on '03 Accord V6 AT's, but it seems to take care of the lack of lubrication problem on a vast majority of the cars before there's any AT damage.

Being the driver of both Accord V6 6-speed Sedan and TSX...
Feature wise:
Accords have EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), TSXs don't.
Accords have ugly (IMO) yellow interior console "mood" lighting, TSXs have cool blue (me like)...
The V6s idle with 0 vibration, can't say that with the TSXs.
Accords have one piece fold down seat, TSXs have split 60/40.
TSXs have the trunk button above the license plate, Accords don't.

Interior vibration levels at idle on my '06 TSX 6 speed are literally comparable to my friend's '03 TL-S automatic.

I've been off this thread for a long time. I wanted a manual with four dours and some pep, but not too big, Couldn't decide between a used TSX which I wasn't finding and a new Accord that was a rocket, but seemed big.
I went to the dark side. I came across a used 2002 325i with 29,000 miles on it. It was certfified with two years of warranty, manual, leather and premium package. Got it for 22K.

A V6 has only end-to-end vibration, which can be managed with either a single balance shaft or even with a properly designed engine mount:

As an aside, I found the TSX very smooth, but with more valve train noise under light acceleration -- not unpleasant mind you, just there -- than anything else I have driven recently.

I have a 24 mile commute and 20 miles of it is at 60-75mph. Being able to accelerate at those speeds is leaning me towards the Accord. Price wise they are close as I was looking at the 05 TSX.
The Accord web site says the 6M has a front shock tower cross bar. Can someone explain what that does and does the TSX also have one?
Thanks

All the more reason to get a 4-banger. My TSX gets ~33 to 35 mpg on the highway with 93 octane gas. And with gas prices these days, the 15 cent difference from regular to plus is trivial. Though the accord I4 doesn't do that poorly, either.

The sad part is, the TSX does look like a civic from the side......
Can anyone give a list of features that are on the TSX and not on the Accord??? Someone already mentioned the Bluetooth and HID. There HAS to be more!!!! What about MID and Aux Input? Memory Seats? Also, I am talking about the V6 coupe.

Just think with the Accord, your gf can say "Hey, I like your grandpa's Honda Lucern"

I just went from a 2004 EX Coupe V6 MT to a 2007 TSX 5AT w/navi.
There's no way around it, I gave up a lot of speed going from the 6sp V6 to the auto I4. It is most painfully apparent below 4000rpm. The TSX power is adequate, but not great. Although when you wind up that 4-banger, it does ok in the higher revs.
I had the TL-S sways in my Accord, so the handling between both cars I find about equal. Just a bit more lean in the TSX.
Strangely, my gas mileage is no better in the TSX. I have a lot of stop-and-go driving where I live and I kind of expected the 4 cylinder to do better in the mileage dept. But, I'm averaging about 16mpg, which is about the same as my V6 manual. The best I did on the hwy in the TSX was 35mpg, which is only 1 better than my 34mpg in the Honda.
Where the TSX shines is in the fit and finish. The interior is just superb, and was easy to transition to in that it is the same layout as my Honda. I love the navi, and the sound system isn't half bad either. HID is a plus too. Plus, the car looks sharp with the sparkle silver sport rims. Although the Honda was nice, you can tell this is an Acura...no chance someone will mistake it for grandpa's lucerne.
Basically, if speed is your goal, get the V6 MT. You won't be disappointed. But if you prefer comfort, and more of a luxury feel, the TSX is great. Just don't expect to win any races. Just my 2 cents having owned both cars.

Nice write up... i also considered the V6 Accord and decided on the TSX primarily because of the luxury feel...

Car is less than 2 months old, so I don't think the air filter is a problem, but you're right, I should at least check it. Tire pressure is normal on all four corners. I run Shell V-Power 93 oct.
One thing to remember is that the engine's mpg will improve as it is broken in. Once the rings and bearings are fully set-in, mileage should improve. Although, I doubt I will go from 16 to 26!
Still, I do find it a bit strange, especially considering I usually drive it like an old lady lol.

I just calculated my mileage at over 28! That's mostly going to and from work. Although, most of that is traveling on the highway, but still... Lovin' the gas mileage....

May not be as purdy as the TSX but it does pack more power with a slight penalty in mpg. I get 25 mpg in my EX-L V6 5AT.

Last week I traded an 03 RSX type S in on an 07 TSX 5mt and then put almost 2k miles on it over the July 4th holiday. It got 33.5 mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 75mph. Gotta say that I love this car. We were so much more comfortable on this trip than we've ever been in Mom's 06 750Li (complete junk GPS nav). While on vacation, I test drove the new Altima V6 sedan and coupe. I really loved the engine, but the interior felt cheap and heavy in comparison to my new TSX and it even smelled weird. Got back in the TSX and ahhhhh...what a car.
