TSX vs. Cadillac BLS

I bought the TSX because it is an attractive car, and there was no other car in its price range with comparable features. Biggest bang for the buck, and everything else with comparable features was $10K more.

Finally an American car company introduces a TSX competitor - but unfortunately it's not for sale in North America. Aside from the hideous name ("BLS?" Yuck!), the car is pretty nice looking, and equipped very much along the lines of the TSX. I guess GM has finally realized that there is a market for this particular segment - though they seem to be missing the fact that there is a market for it HERE. I think the TSX is making an impression on other companies, even though they're taking a while to catch on. If this had been for sale in the US when I bought my TSX, it would have at least been in consideration:

Considering it comes in the line just below the CTS, it should be in about the same price range as TSX.

Given the failure of the Catera, GM might not be in a huge rush to offer the BLS in North America anytime soon.

This car is nothing like Catera. For that matter, Cadillac today is nothing like Cadillac was in 1996. I think this new car has a lot in common with TSX, actually.

I like it, the interior too. I would have def. considered it back when I was looking at the TSX. I don't see why they shouldn't bring it here.

That was not meant to be a knock against the BLS, I think it is a very cool car; only trying to point out that historically North American manufactures have not faired well in the domestic backyard when importing European orientated hardware.

I like the engine options. Two gas, two diesel, a 4-cyl and 6-cyl of each, and all turbo.

True, however I think that trend is coming to an end with the Saturn Sky (basically the second generation Opel Speedster / Vauxhall VX220.) In fact, it looks like Saturn, in a total betrayal of it's original "All-American" charter, is about to become "Opel America." Not that I mind at this point; I had a 1992 Saturn SC2, which was an awesome car. But I never considered a Saturn at all after 1997 when they just started getting crazier and crazier designs. I'd love to have a Sky, though. Somebody was smart in bringing the Holden/Vauxhall Monaro over as a GTO. Maybe GM is starting to make smarter choices in what ideas/designs they import from their foreign marques. I still think they're missing out by not bringing in BLS.

I'm afraid my past experiences with GM products have left me less than willing to consider another.... while all of my experiences with Hondas/Acuras have encouraged me to look to them first for any future purchases.

Hmm... that steering wheel color scheme looks a little familiar doesn't it?

It looks decent. It does look a little like the TSX, CTS, and even a bit of the Chevy Malibu.
