And this is from Edmunds, although I also have heard that Mercedes was named after a businessman's daughter, not a diplomat's.
Two automotive manufacturers, Daimler and Benz (who both claimed to have invented the first automobile), joined forces in 1926, with each company bringing with it 40 years of motorcar building experience. Mercedes (named after a diplomat's daughter) had been the passenger vehicle line of the Daimler Motor Company from Bad Cannstatt, Germany. After the Daimler-Benz merger, the company renamed all of its products Mercedes-Benz. The marque has been a symbol of high-quality German engineering since its inception and has produced a number of classics such as the 500K of the 1930s and the 300SL Gullwing of the 1950s. In 1998, Daimler-Benz merged again, this time with America's Chrysler Corporation. The new company was renamed DaimlerChrysler, but the vehicle brands have remained separate.

Everybody has to chilllll!!!!!!
TSX and 325 are both great cars. People are different and get them for different reasons. You can bash the two all you want but they are still good quality cars. They both handle great but in different ways considering the size difference and RWD/FWD.
The 3 series is reliable. Maybe not as much as the TSX, but the difference lies in the fact that BMW parts cost more and the the mechanics are harder to get to in a BMW vs. a Honda/Acura. (I have a mechanic who is a good friend who works on both)
So everybody chill. One might be better than the other at one thing, but the other is sure better than the other at something else.

BMW's blahh... my experiences with BMW's:
* CD players suck, they are very picky about CD media.
* Navigation is a joke compared to Acura's.
* The current 3 series does not have solar sensing dual climate control.
* The current 3 series guzzles alot more gas than the TSX.
I can make trips to San Diego from Los Angeles in my TSX and still have more than enough gas to spare which can't be done with even a 325i
* TSX has better top end power than the 325i, from a roll a 325i would get dusted.
Lets not forget that RWD may launch better, but FWD doesn't require as much drivetrain power as RWD. Thus if you're out on the freeway you can out-accelerate a 325i.
But from a stoplight AWD/RWD will always launch better than FWD. But AWD cars require much more power than RWD and FWD so... those 325xi owners are probably only putting down around 145-ish WHP, but AWD launches better than both RWD/FWD from a stop.
In essence since RWD/AWD launches better than FWD, the 325i's 0-60 will be marginally faster but the TSX WILL eventually catch up after 60 since the TSX has MUCH more top end with more horsepower going to the wheels.
With all of that said the 3 series is a nice car but... overpriced in my opinion.

The E90 325 will have a 218HP I6 that will probably outperform the TSX.
Pricewise the only way to get a 325 close to the TSX is to get a base model via ED.

It may not look the part but thats going to one bad ass Bimmer. I'm sure its going to be priced even further away from the TSX however, especially with the 1 or 2 series on the way.

How old is this thread? New 3 series is dope!! They calmed down the "bangled" style, and BMW is "pissed due to 3 series pictures leaking" quoted from some car magazine i read in barnes and noble. My bro has a 99 328i, i love it, and it has alot of options that my TSX has, even some that mine dosent which i dont understand. My car is 4 years older, i thought it would be a bit more developed in that sense. ( I still love my TSX) Oh well, g35c is my next whip!!

I'm the Firestarter
When I was buying the TSX a couple of months ago I test drove a 330i, and I did like it. But, while I've been a big fan of the e46 for the past few years, it's got a bit old by now, and the interior and exterior just look dated compared to the TSX IMO. Plus it costs a lot more (in Canada at least) and I don't mean base price, but if you add leather, sunroof and all the stuff the TSX comes with, then the BMW gets noticably more expensive. I would pay more for a BWM, but not for one that's about to become the "old styling".
And the pictures I've seen of the new one doesn't do it for me nearly as much as the e46 did. I used to think it was the most beautiful car ever, but the new one, while not ugly like the 7-series, is just another nice new car, but nothing too special.

Its going to once again set the standard for entry level luxury and handling.
We can confirm BMW is plotting the return of turbocharging to the lineup with a 3.0-liter, 240-hp I6 in a proposed 330Ti. It is aimed at bridging the gap between the regular line and a new 4.0-liter, 400-hp V8-powered M3. BMW also is developing a limited number of fwd 3s using the electronically controlled xDrive system found in the X3.
And whats with the FWD BMW's? Gilbo will be appauld.

I'd have to think the 240 figure is a typo if the NA 3.0 is good for 255HP the turbo should make at least 300.

I'm the Firestarter
The back is not "timeless", it's more like "generic".
And the dashboard looks ancient to me. They need to figure out, like Acura did, that the big flat horizontal panel across the entire dash where the airvents go is just not cool anymore. You need some curves, and the dash has to look aerodynamic just like the exterior of the car.
But overall it's good if only because expectations were so low after the 7-series and the 5-series.

MSRP on the 325i is $29,300 compared to the TSX which is $27,190. And the 325i is the lowest of the low of BMWs? I could see maybe getting the xi which would have all wheel drive, but just the i? Even BMW's destination charges are more than Acuras? $695 compared to $570
Boooooo to you! LOL

I was just on their site and their prices seemed rather high. Where do you see these great deals?
